    RTN11 Programing

I like the Matlock episodes which I guess is like a more modern day Perry Mason which I have never watched. I wouldn't mind seeing Mannix again or how about the old "it takes a thief".

    T90's Sold Out

Thanks I'll check them out. I've found some other places that have them in stock, but the price is inflated.

    T90's Sold Out

I was thinking about getting another dish mainly for Ku feeds and whatever else . I currently have a 90cm Fortec fixed on G10r that I'm happy with and don't want to touch. My first impulse was to get another 90 or 100cm with a motor, but I don't have a clear shot of the whole arc. Then I figured...

G10R Signal Level or Time to Tweak

Thanks for the info I'll have to remember to do that. My quality on tp5 was jumping between 60-70 last night so maybe it's not my dish alignment and it is the storm. I'll probably go out this weekend anyway with my small TV and peak the dish (Fortec 36"/SNH-031) alignment. I remember getting up...

G10R Signal Level or Time to Tweak

Thanks. I probably need to make a small adjustment due to some gusty winds we've had recently. It's strange that only one transponder is affected. Usually 11720 is the first to get weaker when an adjustment is needed.

G10R Signal Level or Time to Tweak

Lately I noticed about a 10-15% decrease in signal on G10R tp5 (11800MHz). The other transponders such as tp1(11720 MHz) seem about the same. A couple weeks back I was averaging about 75-80% quality on tp5 now I'm down to 60-65% quality. Its been cold here in NJ and I hate to start messing...

combining multiple units through a modulator?

The part # from JRM is NJM2259 and they are available from Mouser for about a buck. I just used the typical circuit out of the data sheet which you can easily find doing a search or maybe Mouser has it. I deviated from the data sheet by adding a varactor diode in the oscillator circuit so I...

combining multiple units through a modulator?

Modulators I made my own three channel modulator out of some chips sold by New Japan Radio (NJR). The three cable channels are 84, 86, and 88. I have CCTV cameras installed on the front/back of my house on 84,86 and my Pansat 2500a on 88. I bought the Pansat UHF kit so I can have Sat TV on any...

    Future of KU?

There may be more of a demand for free television such as G10R when the FCC pulls the plug on terestrial analog TV in 2009. People who can not afford or don't want to afford pricey cable/premium satellite will be looking for alternatives. I read the government will be offering money ($40.00 I...

    Just Can't Locate Galaxy 10R

Dish Elevation Scale Don't always trust the elevation making on the dish. My Fortec was off about 2 deg. which can make a difference between no signal and a good signal. If you're getting a strong signal from 121 you may be a little high in elevation. Where I'm located G10R is 22 degrees in...

What FTA Channel is your Favorite?

RTN on G10R is my favorite Not to sound like an old fart, but I like watching the Matlock re-runs. I also like all the other stuff I used to watch (BW TV - rabbit ears) when I was growing-up.

    VBI Data?

Ok thanks Krapola. If that's the case and the CC can be between 17-22, then I wonder if all televisions have circuitry smart enough to look between those lines for the CC data? Maybe that's awh's problem...... awh, Have you tried the 5k box on another TV?

    VBI Data?

True most NTSC video encoders will allow the CC data to be inserted on those lines by setting a register field in the encoder. Back when I did STB design we set the CC to be on 21. From my experience that's pretty typical. The lower full lines starting at 10 usually will contain VITS stuff...

    VBI Data?

CC should be encoded on NTSC line 21 out of the baseband video of the box. If you happen to have an oscilloscope you should see the run-in clock and serial data instead of white level video. I know CC is in the MPEG stream, but it's a matter of whether the box decodes the data off the stream and...
