    Hd

I was just going to post the same... was curious when Phoenix HD locals were going live. Since it's looking like June, and many network series are over by May, I'll probably just wait until August or September for Football and Lost and everything else to start up again. :)

DirecTV receives 'F' from BBB -- StopHDLite

Not at all, Charper -- simply to dispel this notion that's promulgated that HDLite is 'no big deal.' It was that attitude among the D* fans here that got me sucked into signing up for D* in the first place. D* doesn't have to list specs -- I subscribed to their HD service. HD is 16:9 at 720p...

    HD-Lite???

I completely disagree. Compare my original answer to the poster's question vs. Dragon's original 'non-answer'. I didn't bait anyone, simply answering someone that's in the same position as I was. Answering with some specious, BS answer like 'they both are providing what they can' is...

    HD-Lite???

I have moved on (canceled service as of last Friday). If you think 1280x1080 = 1920x1080, then you're not only blind, but bad at math as well. But I'm not a Dish fanboy, just a full HD fanboy... I was the whore for Cox's full hd as well when I could get it. I'd shill for D* too if they could...

DirecTV receives 'F' from BBB -- StopHDLite

So you don't feel HDLite is an issue for people thinking of making the switch? Funny how some are more willing to chalk the 'failures and mistakes' up to consumers than to the provider that is being less-than-honest with a service they provide. I'm posting the HDLite link as a caveat...

DirecTV receives 'F' from BBB -- StopHDLite

Well, I'll admit the link is a little misleading -- I found the BBB rating link at the StopHD Lite site. If anyone would like to make a compelling argument as to why an E* HD subscriber enjoying 1920x1080 HD should downgrade to HDLite, I'm all ears (or eyes, a the case may be).

DirecTV receives 'F' from BBB -- StopHDLite

Stop HDLite Wish I had found this before I switched from E* to D*. If you're happy with your current D* HD, that's great -- move along, nothing to see here. If you're an E* HD subscriber and thinking of switching, then read this and re-consider.

    HD-Lite???

No, just that people like me that raise a complaint about D*s horrendous HD quality, and D* fanboys/apologists/water carriers like you tell us we're blind when we can clearly tell the difference between 1280x1080 (D*) and 1920x1080 (E*).

    HD-Lite???

From what I understand, D* won't be full HD until Q3/4 2007. I made the switch from E* (811) to D*s H20 2 weeks ago for local HD (I can't get OTA). The difference in HD quality was astounding. I cancelled D* two days ago and ate about $280. Thankfully, something told me a few weeks back to...

Cancelled DirecTV after 2 weeks -- billing dispute

Well, then we all lose -- I'm out $280, the sponsor is out $500, adn D* is out of a 2 year subscriber. Hurray for capitalism and dumbed down HD. I *DID* read READ **READ** -- that's not the point. I spent HOURS* here reading up on D*. There were very few mentions of HD Lite, and the few...

Cancelled DirecTV after 2 weeks -- billing dispute

Thanks Sean, I agree -- I just wanna cut my losses and get back to the 1920x1080 quality I had. I'm taking a shot and sending in the rebate anyway -- the only requirements stated on teh rebate form are a receipt and proof of signing the D* agreement, which I have both. Says/mentions nothing of...

Cancelled DirecTV after 2 weeks -- billing dispute

And now that I read your post again, I can see why. I hate to pull Mac snobbery into this, but from what I've gathered on the AVS forum is that the firewire capture we've done is still only possible on Mac OS X because of Apple's firewire SDK (I have many PC friends that have bought dirt...

Cancelled DirecTV after 2 weeks -- billing dispute

When did I say I was watching TV on my computer? I recorded HD shows on my computer -- for free -- when HD DVRs were well over $1000. And with a 30" Apple LCD, why *not*?

Cancelled DirecTV after 2 weeks -- billing dispute

It was firewire via the Cox Scientific Atlanta HD receiver. I ran a cable from the firewire port to my Mac, turning it into a Hi Def DVR. As far as I know, no satellite receiver/dvr has firewire (last I checked, that may have changed).

Cancelled DirecTV after 2 weeks -- billing dispute

When I was with Cox, I was able to capture HD through the firewire port to my hard drive (ie, non protected channels, not HBO, etc). Recordings from DiscoveryHD and HD Net were clearly 'full' HD. [edit: through the firewire port of the Cox-supplied Scientific Atlantic HD receiver] While this is...
