    Question For SatelliteGuys Members...

I think that XStreamHD is an interesting concept, and I'm all for better video and audio quality. That said, I'm skeptical as to whether or not it will succeed as the intended market is just not big enough. The vast majority of people will be unwilling or unable to pay the premium and will be...

    Dish, TWC Next for MSNBCHD

Big deal, MSNBC HD showed up on my cable system on 6/30, although guide info wasn't available until the next day. I've already had other similar channels like CNN HD, CNBC HD, Fox News HD, and Fox Business News HD on cable for awhile, so I don't know why we need yet another similar HD channel.

    New Dish packages too expensive

I dumped Dish last year when they dumped Voom but put the 722 on the shelf in case I ever come back to Dish. After looking at the new Dish package pricing it doesn't look like that will happen any time soon. I'm currently paying cable about $65 a month for all SD and HD channels (except premium...

Cleveland CBS HD Video & Audio

Happens with OTA and cable too, so the problem is not with the Dish feed. Don't know if this is a local or CBS network feed problem since I watch only CBS programming on that station. Good luck on getting the "geniuses" at WOIO to fix it as they seem to be the most incompetent bunch in this market.

How Dish's 1080p is going to work...

The Dish 1080/24p announcement is about 95% marketing hype. Only those with HDTVs that support true 24fps will be able to take advantage of it. These TVs display at some multiple of 24Hz (23.976Hz to be technically correct) such as 48Hz, 72Hz, 96Hz, or even 120Hz in some cases. The benefit is...

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

I miss Voom too (was Voom DBS customer #1 back in October, 2003), but it's only TV, and life goes on.

    AMC Channel HD?

I haven't seen any HD 4:3 movies, but AMC HD SD movies were shown in stretch-o-vision last time I checked. IIRC, FX HD shows SD movies pillar boxed.

Anyone have the Harmony 550 remote?

The 550 worked fine with a 722 when I had Dish, TV1 only of course since TV2 is RF, and the 550 is IR only.

    AMC Channel HD?

I've had AMC HD on cable for awhile, and they finally started showing movies in HD. At least they show movies in OAR unlike FX HD, which crops, pans, and scans movies. Also, AMC HD is 1080i while FX HD is 720p like all Fox channels.

Class Action Lawsuit against Dish for Dropping Voom?

I don't like the fact that Dish removed Voom, but to say a lawsuit on this matter would be frivolous is an understatement. Instead of making lawyers rich, those unhappy with this move should consider voting with their wallet and doing what I did - cancel Dish and take your business elsewhere.

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

I cancelled Dish because of the loss of Voom and will stay with cable service.

Why Is WFN Classified as a HD Channel?

If Dish was hell bent on adding an outdoor type channel, they would have been much better off adding Outdoor Channel 2 HD that's on my cable system. While I seldom watch it because it's mostly hunting and fishing, at least much of the programming is actually in HD with decent picture quality.

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

From what Scott said, it doesn't sound like Voom will ever be coming back. I'll wait a few weeks and see what happens, but since it no longer makes sense for me to pay for both Dish and cable, I'll have to cancel one or the other. If Dish has HD-Lite, then cable has HD-a-little-less-lite, and...

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

If I had to, I could live with this arrangement. It's better than nothing like we have now.

VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

My knee-jerk reaction to losing Voom was to cancel Dish immediately, but since I'm paid up untiil 6/10, I might as well take a few weeks to mull it over. Right now, the HD channel count between Dish and my cable service is about equal, with Dish having a few HD channels that cable doesn't and...
