    hd channels

Seriously losing in the core HD channels. One can see how far their numbers have sunk in this area on Official AVS National HD Channel Lineups - Cable/DBS/Fiber/IPTV - Updated 12/20/10! - AVS Forum I have friends on Dish or cable who now practically taunt me for not having BBCAmerica HD...

DirecTV Tops Dish in JD Powers Rankings

Quote---"I've never heard of ANY cable company with a good reputation for customer service." Well, now you have. We had Cox in Roanoke, VA and the LOCAL phone customer response time and service were actually quite good. I left Cox because then, then only had about 8 HD channels when Direct...

$50 Dish Grounding Inspection Fee passed by Omaha, Ne

Pure idiocy and rankly unfair. 1. Cable is exempt 2. Every three years? They cite plumbing and electric is inspected ... and that this is not different. Then INSPECT everyone PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL every 3 YEARS, and see what outcry ya get. 3. $50 is onerous. $15 might have slipped by, but...

    E* wins in Roanoke, VA

It's supposed to arrive Q3 of 09 ... not far off.

    HR20 - OTA Tuner

Don't forget, you may have to enter an additional zip code for the OTA tuner to check for the desired channel. Put a zip code in that's in the channel broadcast area.

Has Directv lost that HD leader feeling!

When Direct is gaining customers and profits right and left, why should they try extra hard to put on new HD nationals? It doesn't seem to be impacting anything negatively. What is REALLY going to be weird is if they really do what they are indicating and are waiting until D12 ... NEXT YEAR to...

    Any word on HD locals

Harrisonburg is a completely different market (so we cannot get them). Roanoke/Lynchburg is one of the largest markets remaining without HD locals. E* has them lit up in test mode on sat, I think. It's too bad as Roanoke is a mountainous area, and many folks here are behind mountains such that...

Is Travel Channel HD ever coming to Directv?

And likely quiet for a good time longer. It HAS been very frustrating seeing other carriers leapfrogging D* in HD.

DIRECTV Remains Clear HD Leader with 130 HD Channels

Contacting support about new national HDs (with a little frustration on the lack thereof with last big rollout), reply was --- Thanks again for writing. I understand your concern regarding this issue. We can't currently offer all of your channels in HD because our satellite capacity doesn't...

off-air channels not showing up in guide

OTA receiver - sensitive? I am just about a new D* customer mainly for the new HD - but I need to know how sensitive the OTA tuner is? Does it do ok. Has anyone been able to compare it to anything else. My old VOOM unit does quite well ... better than my old E* 6000u HD receiver. But several...

Some Dish Network News (July 5, 2006)

Does that mean I'm going DARK here, with my 6000 receiver (+61.5)? I'm getting the "old" HD pack (some Voom, TNT, HDNets, etc.) a la carte for $15. As much as I want all of VOOM plus Univ. HD, etc. I refuse to have to have to jump from $15 to $40 plus lease fee for those few extra channels...

6000 reciever will not downconvert HD Pak channels

Yep. I have a 6000, and it is working perfectly in all ways.

Looks like no Dish and no Voom for me :-(

To answer question to me... My bill with all charges, fees, is about $25. That is with HD pack, superstation pack, and VOOM channels. I CAN get 110/119, so I get TNT-HD etc, (which cable does not have yet).

Looks like no Dish and no Voom for me :-(

You might do what I do ... just use the 61.5 dish for the VOOM channels, and get that from Dish a la carte, then use cable for your other HD and SD. That's assuming you have a decent cable service. Adelphia has a good setup in my part of VA, even has ESPN2! And my cable SD is far superior to...

    I dumped DirecTV for Dish

You gotta be kidding. At least for some cable systems. I have had Dish and Adelphia, and I can tell you that at least here in this part of VA, for SD, cable is so much superior in picture quality. Hands down. I know there are terrible cable systems out there. So yes, the comparison can vary...
