New EPG Info data - strange

As well they should. If Gracenote is providing the guide data with opinions in it, then there is an inherent conflict of interest. Nielsen is supposed to objectively monitor the ratings, but now with the Gracenote guide data, they have the ability to influence the ratings by affecting potential viewers' opinions of the shows when they read the descriptions.
I have seen both positive, subjective writing and negative subjective writings for INFO text. So, who decides who gets the positive and the negative? Is any MONEY involved? :). You make an interesting point. Easy to clean-up by just taking out the subjective, relative words here and there, and you have a clean, OBJECTIVE description, in most cases.

A timer I and others made just last week for Feud: Bette and Joan is now useless (it missed the next episode, and I was aware ONLY because of the current mess). I had to delete that and make a new one. Will I have to do this again NEXT WEEK? I appreciate Dish acknowledging these problems exist and offering a few workarounds. I do NOT appreciate Dish's attitude that this is "sporadic" (they haven't a CLUE what's going on in even a fraction of their subscribers homes). Dish seems to downplay how this is affecting situations they know about (posters on this board) and the millions upon millions more who do not post on this forum and just have timers not fire and OFTEN do NOT complain, but just look at the competition's mailers constantly wooing them to drop Dish and come to them.

Dish, either you have NO CLUE as to how many people this is affecting (and I everyone on end which seems to support the notion that nearly EVERYONE is affected because nearly everyone has guide data on their DVR's, or Dish is being cluelessly OFFENSIVE and INSENSITIVE to it subscribers for what is a SERIOUS problem and highly difficult experiance that can cause people to not even report anything to Dish, but instead just look at a competing MVPD's offers in the mail every day of the week.

Dish, stop minimizing this and dare use the work "sporadic." This is GLOBAL in scope for Dish. And BTW, to the contrary, Dish, it DOES affect the "Live viewing" experience because when I am watching one channel and then scoll the guide to select INFO to decide which channel to change to and watch LIVE, if I get a description for a different show or in a different language or a subsricber can't read the entire description, I may decide NOT to tune to that channel after all and just settle on a description that makes sense or is accurate to the show title on the EPG.

I would even appreciate a video like the ones they go to all the trouble to produce when Dish wants to blame (correctly so, it seems, in almost every case) a local broadcaster for a blackout. So, how about a video with Charlie himself explaining what is going on and HOW they are fixing it? Never see the light of day, I know, but I think Dish is wasting tons of $$$ on its "The Listener" campaing when they can far less expensively COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY to its customers and at least seem as if they care, understand how this affects the viewing experience, and take it most seriously, and tell us what they are doing to fix it. I know Charlie is probably very busy making things spic 'n span for Verizon's eventual arrival (all the books in order, etc.), but for now he can't even be seen having LUNCH with anyone from any wireless company who is likely to buy Dish. So, take some of this time-out time, Charlie, and talk to us with some of your well know "Aw shucks" barefoot boy from Tennessee persona that you are, indeed, aware of what's going on, and that Dish is working hard to fix this ASAP.

The new EPG data changed "At Midnight" to "@ Midnight", invalidating the old timer. However, the Hopper 3 errors out when trying to set a new timer for "@ Midnight" because, I assume, it begins with a symbol and not a letter or number. Dish needs to address this.
I came here looking for and answer to this very problem. For now, since I record the Daily Show every night, I told the hopper to extend the recording time by 30 minutes. That way I will get Midnight as well. I'd rather Dish just fix the problem though.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. It actually works for me now... at least it's been recording for the past week or so. Maybe try setting up a new timer to see if it works for you too? I have a Hopper 3 with a couple of 4K Joeys.

Just to note, this bull continues - last night's new episode of "Little Big Lies" was completely ignored, even though it had showed up as scheduled when we looked on Saturday. This Thursday's Big Bang Theory also wasn't listed this morning, even though the guide says it's new. In both cases, we already had created new timers when this guide stupidity started, now we have to do it AGAIN?

I'm not even sure what else is being missed, since it's so sporadic - most new shows are recorded just fine, but then some things are being intermittently missed. I thought it was being cleared up, but now I don't trust this process at all. All this for crappier program descriptions?

I recorded the Bronte Sisters on PBS last night. The guide said it was 1 hour 30 minutes. The show was actually 2 hours. So we missed the last 1/2 hour. I will have to record the repeat which currently reads 2 hours. I bet there are many Dish viewers that will be affected by this guide data mistake.

From that article:

"With Dish, Rovi has deals done or renewed with nine of the top 10 U.S. pay TV providers."

Last week I created a timer for Cosplay Melee on SyFy. It recorded last week's episode but not this week's. I created a new timer for this week's, and it picked up this week's episode in progress and the eventual re-run of it, but not NEXT week's episode. I created a timer for THAT, but I don't expect it to pick up any subsequent ones.

Each episode is listed as "Episode 1"...

And I'm paying well over $100 a month for this IDIOCY!
