I kept getting a dialogue box popping up every few hours yesterday wanting to update or continue watching. Later that evening requested update. H3 downloaded something. Let it do its thing but came back up with u517. Strange

same here, just now, i came here to see what was going on with new update....but still on 517
im having major issues switching back and forth from 4k soccer to 1080 programming, sometimes it will go to black screen for 4 seconds then a 4k static screen for some seconds and then back to black. Rarely turning the box offf and on again will fix it, but most the time i have to unplug the hopper to work again
very frustrated, i had issues with olympics as well
the picture quality on the soccer is sub par also

i also have a non4k joey that has p=a very poor response time,
so i tried the dish app on the firestick, and it is twice as fast

Checked mine when I got back into town and it's thankfully 517. I read on the tech portal 518 is having a bug where the Hopper 3 keeps showing a pop up for a Software Update, which is probably why they pulled it

U518 does do that. I get the message about 7:00 AM and I have update set for 1:00 AM.

So that is why. It only takes a click to close it.

I was thrilled when Dish finally answered an issue that has been debated for years - the ability to set the time for the "nightly reboot"....... and it seems to be working very well - for the most part.
I set my time to 4AM as there is no one home that would likely be watching TV at that hour (almost no one, anyway - almost never - hardly ever.... .seldom .... :angel).

On 2 occasions now, I've switched the TV on at 10 or 11AM in the morning, to be greeted with a large text box on the screen - a rather wordy "reason" for why the Hopper is rebooting (something to the effect that the "system needs to shut down for maintenance".

I know that the Hopper typically has forced a restart on the 3rd day if it wasn't able to do so previously. But in the past it would do so - come-hell-or-high-water - right at 1AM (my time). So it's curious to me why it would wait for 6 or 7 hours beyond the time I have designated. Just a curiosity - not a big deal, and this is SO much better than sitting in the dark every 3rd night at 1AM.

I am still on 518. Update set for 3AM. However, during prime time I consistently get a message that a reboot/update is required. There is an option to decline. But if I happen to miss the warning I lose about five minutes to the restart. Maybe they are "working on it".

Which is why they pulled 518 before it went out to everyone, I assume

Jesus that is horrible...

In no way was that cursing

Um, yes, it is:

What is Cursing?
Cursing is a broad term for two basic kinds of profanity: (1) Taking the name of the Lord God in vain, and (2) Making vulgar, guttural references to human sexuality, anatomical parts and biological functions.

Taking the name of God in vain may be further defined as making any light, casual, unbelieving reference to God. Those who ask God to condemn something or someone do not have a Christian attitude toward others.

In most cases, those who condemn someone else are practical atheists, they really do not believe in a God who has the power to administer eternal punishment in the first place. They make a mockery of the concept of God and the concept of damnation. Ask people, who wish condemnation on others and you discover that most do not even believe in a literal “Hell.” They make a mockery of a place the Bible says does exist.

Individuals for years have made vulgar references to sex and the human body. But only in recent years have these references been brought out into the public light through the mass media and electronic communications.

Really...going there....really??? Good grief! Don’t push your beliefs on others. Stick to the questions/answers.

Um, my beliefs? Actually, truth be told, I am an atheist! I was simply pointing out that the word 'cursing' has a definition and what the original post did was to 'curse' by that definition while the original poster claimed it was not cursing.

Maybe not in your 'world' but it is if you're a Christian.

Good for you knowing all that, maybe the info helped somebody else.
If God didn't have a sense of humor, neither would we.
I remember watch David Steinberg and he's telling the story of Moses and the Burning Bush:

“And God said, ‘Moses, take off your shoes from … your feet and approach the burning bush.’ Moses approaches the burning bush and burns his feet.”

Steinberg turns to the audience with an aside historical comment..

"This is believed to be the first mention of Christ in the Bible".

Apparently, U518 has a glitch that turns everyone who uses it into a religious fanatic. :biggrin

Knock down a sixer of this and you too will get religion
