    switch can't find satellite 101

Heah :(. I tried the resetting of 3 of the receivers, but just as I expected, we now have 3 televisions "stuck" on "searching for satellite." This sucks! The one television is sitll going (with the exception of IFC, USA, TNT, and probably a few others). I'm totally confused by this...

    switch can't find satellite 101

I'll try this shortly, but just so you guys know, we are still not recieving IF, USA, TNT on any of the televisions (searching for sat. signal error). And the one receiver is still completely not receiving anything. Any idea why these channels can not be found? This seems very odd to me :(...

    switch can't find satellite 101

again... :( Ok, similiar thing happening again. One television just stopped recieving the sattellite signal. It just sits there and says "searching for signal," while the other 3 televisions are fine. Well, almost fine; It seems that certain channels are not coming in at all: USA, IFC, and...

    Receiving Extra Channels

A lot more great channels and programming??? To be honest, I'm really not sure the plus channels warrant my extra $4... :)

    switch can't find satellite 101

Hmm...I havn't talked w/ any techs but we've been having 90+ degree weather also. Anyone else w/ similiar experiences? Actually, I just had to reset another box a few minutes ago...weird!!!

    switch can't find satellite 101

Hmm...it appears that direct tv is now working since this morning. Oddly there was no bad weather around, so I'm not sure what caused the problems yesterday; any ideas?

    switch can't find satellite 101

Well, I unplugged one of the units (for 15 minutes) and now that TV is like the one previously mentioned; that is, it can not find any channels at all :(. So, now I have 3 televisions missing 101 channels and 2 not getting anything... Looks like I'll have to call direct tv in the morning...

    switch can't find satellite 101

    >Was there a power outage? no >Have you to reset the boxes or tried unpluging them for 15 minutes? I'll try now >Any bad weather or wind? nope Any summer leaves filling in? will check to see if there are leavers all over the dish, but doubt it.

    switch can't find satellite 101

Forgot to mention that it is a 3 LNB dish, and this is the first time having a problem where the dish can't find the satellite. The 101 channels all have "searching for signal" on the bottom...

    switch can't find satellite 101

Hi: Is there any possible reason why all of a sudden (today) I can't get any of the satellite 101 channels? Is there some type of maintenance in effect? In the signal mode, it shows a good signal for the other 2 satellites, but it simply can not find 101; any ideas? Also, I was playing...

    Dissapointing HBH-SA receiver (no recording)

Oh yeah, that is right. I just gotta make sure that the receiver isn't turned off during any scheduled programming. You record satellite programs using your vcr this way? Heah, its kind of funny, but I was kind of hoping that there was no way to do this, as I was looking for an excuse to...

Can tivo be set to record programs coming in from an OTA signal?

    Dissapointing HBH-SA receiver (no recording)

I was hoping to avoid any more monthly charges :(. A few more questions: 1.) Where can you get this SD tivo dvr 80 for $50. I thought that the cost was a bit more? 2.) I just purchased a 5-room setup, and am wondering what happens if I buy another receiver (either the HAH-SA or tivo...

    Dissapointing HBH-SA receiver (no recording)

This sucks, I have a VCR/DVD combo where I would use my VCR *a lot* to tape programs in advance, weekly, etc. Now, given that my vcr setting really only recognizes CATV, I can only tape CATV programs. Actually, I can have the vcr record a satellite program, but I have no real scheduling...

view cable provider locals using receiver

It's hughes, thanks. Also, will there be a problem when recording satellite programs vs. cable programs? That is, if I set my vcr to record a certain channel, will it be able to distinguish between the "local" and "satellite" modes? Hmm...now that I think about it, I'm wondering if my vcr...

    "Free" installation :(

My take on the whole installation was that after 100 ft of cable was used up, I would then have to pay for any extra cable - this being the ONLY charge (the wiring to each room would still be free). I called Eastern Video (the sub-contractor), and they said that a "Free installation" includes...

    "Free" installation :(

This defninition is a bit vague; I've read it several times. All I needed was to have wires run to each room where this esentially meant up through a hole in the basement floor. And of course, they said this was not covered - that FREE INSTALLATION meant that they had to use my existing 59...

    "Free" installation :(

Heah, they barely had enough coax to get the 4 lines into the house, and run 5 lines to 5 receivers sitting on my table for the "call home."

view cable provider locals using receiver

Hi, I'm getting locals from my cable company instead of D*. It is kind of a pain in the ass to have to turn the receiver off every time I wish to watch a local channel. Well, is it possible to watch the local channels while using the receiver?

    "Free" installation :(

Heah, I suppose that I should have known better than to expect everything for free. Silly me, when I read "Free 5 room installation," I expected a free installation- funny, huh? Anyway, installers come today; they start looking at the existing 10-year old wires (which have been split all...

    where to mount dish?

Will a single larege tree cause enough interference to be a problem? If this is the case, it may be that the roof is my only option. However, a neighbor who lives across the street has quite a few trees where the dish seems to be pointed. Anway, is a chimney mount, in general, a better...

    Stay away from Value Electronics!

Correct; it must be opened by a "professional installer" only. From the horrid reviews of installers lately, I'm beginning to think that I may qualify, myself :).

    "Off Air Antenna", local channels

Hi, I'm finally getting D* installed this friday. You say that installers only cary 4x8's; I thought that the switch was shipped w/ your dish/reciever package, no??? I actually called the tech company (who is doing the install) last week, and asked to make sure I'd be getting a 5x8. They...

    Stay away from Value Electronics!

Hi, I'm curious; I thought the switch (5x8 in this case) was sent out with the equipment. That is, I thought that it was the company whom you purchased from that provided the 5x8 switch and not the installer? Am I wrong? I'll be needing a 5x8 switch myself; the shipment was already...

    where to mount dish?

Hi, I'm not really sure what is best for me; I suppose roof or wall would be adequate, except (as Neutron has said) I may want to do a wall mount so I can get to the dish easier after snow storms. I am getting a 3lnb dish even though I'm not getting locals or HD from direct tv. This is...
