have you looked at the stream specs vs. recorded .ts specs in VLC? Just wondering how you're comparing bit rates, not questioning your eyes on graniness.

You need a DPP LNBF, and a DPH 42 or 34 switch on every dual-Hopper 3 install. The "book" calls for a solo hub off of each output, which isolates the DVRs from each other, but if the tech uses a duo-hub, they can interact. Also, only 1 Hopper can be connected the internet. They should run fine
