YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

The TV money is for all sports, but everything I've ever read shows that the football games are what drives TV revenue. This is one of the reasons why the ACC can't match the SEC and Big10 in TV revenue -- their football games just don't bring the same viewership numbers. The other revenue...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

You didn't. You said "many," which I agreed with. I expanded on that to talk about the majority because that is what should be driving business decisions at these media companies. Keeping a minority of customers happy by overcharging the majority didn't work last time (with cable/satellite)...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

It was a joke about UNC thinking they are bigger than they are and hiring a big time coach -- or at least a very expensive one. Hence the winking emoji. The local reporting has been that the money to pay him is primarily coming from the TV revenues. Needless to say the basketball fans at UNC...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

Many people, yes. The majority of people, maybe in aggregate? Maybe? That is, fans of all sports and all teams may represent a simple majority of TV viewers. How important is another thing. Would all the NFL fans be willing to pay for Sunday Ticket if that was the only way to watch the...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

Well, UNC hired Bill Belichick. ;) Looks like the schools that report such things typically get over a third of their sports revenue from TV rights, with ticket sales, state funding (in the case of public schools), and booster donations being secondary sources of income. As to whether the...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

That is only partially true. Amazon, Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+, and AppleTV have all added sports programming. It is unavoidable anymore. One of the reasons I fled satellite was the high cost of sports, but that win was only temporary. I don't hate sports. I watch F1, and I paid for it...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

I think the waste is in college football, not what Disney has already spent. If anything, the huge amounts Disney and others have already spent are the reason these ridiculous college coach payouts described in the article are possible. Colleges are spending money they don't have on football...

YouTube TV Drops Disney’s ABC, ESPN and Other Networks After Two Sides Fail to Reach New Deal

Well, I didn't say one way or the other, but my understanding was Disney makes most of their money from their parks and cruise lines these days. The TV stuff is technically profitable, but not nearly as much as it used to be. I was mainly talking about how much money is wasted on college...

Peacock jacking their rates even higher!

Wow $30 more per year. Peacock will probably not get renewed next year at that price. My wife watches it more than I do, but much of the stuff is on NBC which we also get via our OTA/Channels DVR setup. Peacock will likely be the first service we drop full time.

If I read this correctly, it includes F1TV Premium, so you can theoretically use the live broadcast trick-play via the F1TV app, assuming they don't disable it for US ATV subscribers: Edit: later reporting makes it seem like the Premium content will be in the ATV app.

Roku ultra price drops to $69 for a limited time

The newer remote still has touch functionality, but you can turn it off. This works 99% of the time, until you come across an app that requires it for certain functions, such as changing the audio feed on F1TV. I just use my iPhone for the remote in those situations. I still like Roku a lot...
