We've had two Roku Ultras over the last 5-6 years or so and the current one replaced the first one due to reliability issues. The current one for the last year has errored on HDCP (screen blinks purple then I get the HDCP error screen which requires a reboot) every now and then despite me replacing every HDMI cable in the loop. It's connected to my TV directly and I have the soundbar is connected via the ARC port on the TV.

Wonder if the new ones are any more reliable or should I try an Apple TV once Apple announces the new one later this month? We are an Apple centric household.

I went from the roku to the Apple tv (initially just for one tv to try it, then replaced them at our other sets) and couldnt be happier.

If youre already in the Apple ecosystem, its a no brainer IMO.

+1000 for Apple TVs. fantastic, rock solid box. Super easy to use and, as someone that uses complex passwords for eveyrthing, the ability to sign into stuff with my phone is way better than on the app.

Also a big fan of mirroring that lets me maintain the same app layout in every room

no issues with our 2024 roku ultra with backlit remote. were using it with the dish anywhere app save's on fee's... plus i can watch t.v. outside just bring the roku outdoors and connect it ;)

good i hated that thing lol
The newer remote still has touch functionality, but you can turn it off. This works 99% of the time, until you come across an app that requires it for certain functions, such as changing the audio feed on F1TV. I just use my iPhone for the remote in those situations.

I still like Roku a lot. That is what I have my parents using since it is so nice and simple.
