SOLD!! Amiko Mini HD SE Satellite Receiver, $15 plus shipping

For sale is an Amiko Mini HD SE satellite receiver. This was our daily receiver until I bought our Edision Mio 4K+ a few years ago. It has been disconnected and in storage here since then. I plugged in it in today, scanned 101W C band and it still works fine. Hopefully somebody here can use it...

    Satellite Meters

I have the original V8 Finder. It is an ok unit for the price for alignment and peaking. The rubs - and they are big ones - are many. I have needed to play really intricate games to fix transponder data via a text editor to keep the unit up to date. Blind scans have tended to overwrite my...

    Satellite Meters

I bought one of the cheaper ones recently V8 Finder 2. It's definitely not as functional as one of those ridiculously expensive meters that gives you all the db levels or whatever and it's not smart enough to figure out which satellite you're pointed at. But it does what I need which is keeping...

Wondering what channels I can get with some old equipment.

BVN has a low symbol rate and a high error correction rate, so it doesn't take a huge signal to receive it properly. However, I have no idea what the actual output power on their transponder is, or how to do the math anyway. So unless someone comes up with that, the only way to tell would be...

    Hopper 3 with International (118) in 2024

OK I think I know what it was, in the picture you posted, there is no satellite or transponder selected and the meter shows 100. I think this happens if you're watching an OTA channel when you launch into the diagnostic screen. As soon as you get it to populate both of those it gives accurate...

Advice Needed: Setting Up C-band Reception with a 90 cm Dish

Probably not available from other sources. When I was in Halifax a few years ago, I tried very hard to receive 58W using a 4-foot dish. Over a period of years, I never succeeded in receiving any transponders from that satellite. Though the footprint is supposed to be 4 dB lower there than in...

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 11/26/2025

AFAIK they nudged 99/103 slightly inward to 99.25/102.75 to reduce potential interference with other Ka users at 97/105, but I figure if they wanted to use 101 they could move those satellites to 99/103 and it would work though perhaps at a slightly worse SNR. FWIW, Directv filed a couple...

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 11/26/2025

Agreed. They can't use the Ka transponders at 101, they are too close to 99 and 103. But D16 was designed to function at any of the DirecTV licensed locations. I've never seen anything about the total number of transponders it can power simultaneously (that I recall).

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 11/26/2025

According to D15/D16's original documents it was designed to power a lot of transponders at once. I can't remember the number, but powering all 32 Ku tpns is well within its capability. It would still have the capacity to light up some of its Ka transponders, if they had any dishes out there...

DIRECTV Transponder Map ~ Data 11/26/2025

I prefer to deal from facts, not speculation. But while we are speculating, I had a less sinister thought in mind. D9S is only licensed until July 31 2024, when it is sceduled to go to disposal orbit. D16 is going to pick up those spotbeam frequencies as national transponders, we think. They...

    Aiming my Direct TV dish

I have successfully used the dithering method to align DIRECTV dishes for years, as a hobbyist. A cheap analog or digital meter is all you need. With a SWM LNB, you cannot have it connected to a receiver. The receiver will start commanding the built in SWM switch to tune to many transponders...

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

They'd also have to replace all the HR34/H44/HR44 out there.

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

In order to go HEVC only, they would have to replace every existing Hx2x receiver out there and switch all Genies to headless server mode as they all came out before chipsets capable of natively decoding HEVC were available and are not powerful enough to software decode HD HEVC video. That...

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

Possibilities that: come to mind for a "Space Event": a Meteorite Debris (Space Junk) Thruster malfunction Power system malfunction Perhaps a need to meneuver out of position to avoid one of the first two. If there was some sort of collision, these satellites have a lot of redundancy and...

    D11 outage 2/27/2024 (Resolved on 2/28)

If its the entire satellite I would suspect a station keeping maneuver went wrong pointing the antennas away from earth. There is a lot of redundancy in the spacecraft like power busses, maybe a few spare transponders, etc. A complete failure is unlikely but has happened in the past.

OTHER Switch for 4 port dvb card

A single port LNBF with voltage polarity selection isn't the best choice to share with 4 tuners. This type of LNBF can only output one polarity at a time. If one tuner selects a horizontal polarity transponder, the other three tuners will only have horizontal polarity transponders available...

Edision Edison Mio Has No Signal

Arlo and All, I followed your instructions and got the following…. Receiver>Switch in>0 Khz port out. Use the C band lnbf on that port and check you get a signal. (Yes) Swap the ku coax and use the 0 kHz port. Power it back up. Can you get signal on for ku? (No) Put your C band coax on...

    Dish 500 antenna

They launched a satellite with higher powered transponders around 2000 or 2001 and moved signal meter from 0-100 to 0-125. They didn't want to adjust it and have people think they lost signal strength. At least that's what Charlie claimed on a chat back in the day, and the peanut gallery agreed!

A deep dive into the DIRECTV power inserter

What you see above you is DIRECTV’s standard power inserter. It’s little changed from the version that debuted with the SWM-5 in 2007. It’s not a terribly high tech piece of equipment; it’s really just a power supply with an internal splitter in it to let you pass signal through if you want to...

NICE AND EASY: Is my DIRECTV LNB broken?

You know, after 12 years of shepherding this blog, I can’t believe I haven’t written a simple, concise guide to seeing if your LNB is bad. I’ve written several articles that come close to the subject, but I guess I never wrote something that takes you through simple steps to try to find out if...

Reelz on a 10' bud here in NY in the rain has a great signal. 11.7db on my meter. NASA at 15.8db.

    Help

Seems the power level on that transponder has dropped a bit. I got Reelz here on an 8.5' dish at 9.7db but I am getting some breakups.

    5G Interference on all Transponders

Well, since I don't have access to a microwave spectrum analyzer I'm somewhat limited. I think my XR-3 has a spectrum analyzer though. I've never used that function before though. Not a big deal because the cost of these LNBFs are "petty cash" for me. I don't know if a regular LNB will get the...
