    Getting into HAM in 2024?

I guess they don't make 'Elmers' like they used to. Many decades ago, VE7OF Steve (SK) spent the better part of a school year each Tuesday evening training my friend and I as high school students on all subjects required to write the exam. Besides the test material, Steve also indoctrinated us...

    Best 4x1 diseqc switch?

This is true for my Edision. For this reason, I have disconnected the coaxial cable in my house (with power on) rather than powering down the Edision in order to cut power to a diseqc switch. But I wouldn't recommend doing it that way. Do what I say, not what I do. But nowadays I have no diseqc...

Comments from a newbie to FTA

You must have a non-FTA receiver also. From memory, I don't think I receive any other tps on that sat, I assumed, since they are Turbo.

    Radio Signals

They're not hidden. You scan in 4043 V 10127, then select the audio channel of choice.

Comments from a newbie to FTA

Can you not receive it? If not, then I guess it's on the Canada beam despite what Lyngsat says. Anyway, it's about as exciting as one of those Nexstar colour bar channels.

You've got Ku pretty well covered. There's a little bit ITC for me on 114.9W, 77W and 72.7W. I can see further east up to about 70W but I can't actually find anything to view east of 72.7W.

Is Anyone Receiving Intelstat 35e ?

Have you inserted a dielectric slab in your LNB since this satellite has circular transponders? That transponder has a C/N lock value of just 1.0 dB so it is the easiest C-band transponder on that satellite to receive. Anything on 4132 R 30000?

I discovered this too. But it does lock the WPR mux. Its content is quite agreeable.

Future of C-band Radio Content Distribution

Interesting comment. Because technology can do something, this doesn't make it useful, desirable or required. If we always yield to what the masses want, I'm not sure the end result is good. This isn't anti-capitalist nor anti-democratic. Just being thoughtful.

Looking for a 10 FT BUD in Florida

This is true. However, there is still lots to receive using a 7.5' Perfect dish. Don't not get into FTA satellite just because you can't find/afford a 10' or larger dish. C-band ain't dead yet.

    Where Am I?

Here in my condo room in SE Asia, the TV dial has many channels including CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, DW, etc. I think they are from a subscribed package of the room owner. In particular, I can see RT (Russia Today) in English like we used to get in North America on 97W Galaxy 19. This channel is...

    Where Am I?

Now, in your mind's eye, convert all those Ku dishes to C-band. That's SE Asia!

    Where Am I?

C-band dishes at properties and on top of buildings are the norm. Though most are likely 8-feet or less.

    Where Am I?

If guessing my age, wrong. If guessing the year, wrong century. The malls may be from the 2030s.

    Where Am I?

Inside knowledge! Permitted. If the diseases don't get you, the leaves will. Feet up; enjoy the satellites. Can't believe the number of 4', 6', 10' C-band dishes here, even for apartments.

    Where Am I?

I think you used Google images! You're too precise. [emoji41] But no count of dishes offered.

    Where Am I?

Out my window, I see the following view shown in attached image. 1) How many satellite dishes can you count? 2) Based on the angle of prime focus and offset dishes, where am I? Winning answer gets nothing but bragging rights.

OTHER Loses signal in the afternoon on SES 2?

Signal strength is not too relevant, but the signal quality here in the mornings is usually better than at mid-day. Similarly, at night my signal quality readings are probably best in the day. The Newsource feeds are strong for me and are receivable at any time. However, LPB is always tough...

    Fear of Poles

When I installed the base/rebar for my 90-foot motorized telescoping tower in the distant past elsewhere, they dug a hole about 5 feet x 4 feet x 8 feet and dumped in about 16 yards of concrete from two cement trucks. They used a big digger and concrete pump reaching over the house for that...

    Fear of Poles

HE'S BACK! Can I get insurance for my dish damaged by falling bears? The laughs on you. There was a time at a previous property where my motorized 1.2m was mounted on a pallet. It scanned from 3W to about 65W. One day I decided I wanted to see more of the western satellites. My wife and I...

    Edision Login/Password TNAP6

I tried a July version, updated it and my problem disappeared. But I'd like to keep my other version since I have all my satellite scans up-to-date in it. When all else fails, search using Google. I found the answer from a 10-year old post on another forum. For some reason, authentication was...

    Edision Login/Password TNAP6

I used this plugin. It did reset the password to original. I know because now I can use the original password to login again via ftp or telnet. So this was successful. Thanks for this. But still, with most current updated TNAP 6, when I try to stream via webif, or an app like Potplayer or VLC...

    Edision Login/Password TNAP6

I can still use the webif as usual. I just can't stream using it anymore. I can always go back to TNAP 5.1 where everything works as always.
