Significantly Viewed (DIRECTV calls them Neighboring Channels)

DirecTV sorts first by ZIP code and then if there are multiple counties in that ZIP code, it breaks it down further. DirecTV doesn't choose the channels you get. The FCC does. DirecTV just complies with the maps that the FCC lays out.

    whole home dvr 199???

The CCK Upgrade option for $199 was to actually install the SWM system in your home and it includes the CCK. You could order just the CCK but that price can vary depending on your services. It is most certainly not a self-install.

Options to get H25 working with older dish?

Where did he get the H25 from? It would probably be less expensive to just call DirecTV and tell them you need to schedule a $49 installation of an H25.

    Direct guide

I am not sure what you are asking here. Do you mean programs like television shows or programs like base packages of channels? Do you mean channel numbers or phone numbers? If it's the television and channel number thing, have you tried hitting <Guide>?

    Thinking about switching to directv...

For the most part that's true. I switched from Dish to DirecTV about 3 years ago after five good years with Dish. I remember I was ready to throw the entire thing out the window for about the first 3 months. A lot of the frustrations eased after that but I still miss the 3 hour guide, the DVR...

DTV does not qualify for WatchESPN?

Time-Warner requires you to carry both internet and cable tv on your account to enable ESPN3. I believe ESPN3 is actually brought into the receiver box via the internet and is displayed that way. It used to be unique to TWC to have it that way, but may be migrating to other service providers, as...

new member ~ DVR has bad sensor and I have stuff on DVR I want to keep..DVR expander ?s.

Don't mean to derail, but which DVR do you have? If it's an HDDVR, R15 or R16, you could just switch the remote to RF mode instead of IR and just keep the DVR you've got. You may need a new remote for $25 but it will fix your problem and as an added bonus you'll be able to change channels...

Is the HD GUI update strictly cosmetic or something more?

That's like saying a door is just a way to get into and out of your house. If that were the case, people wouldn't spend the money on solid oak or metal doors, otherwise everyone would have a $40 bathroom door on the front of their house. The GUI is the first thing that everyone sees and uses...

Is the HD GUI update strictly cosmetic or something more?

...version worked. I still don't think the visual presentation is as good as Dish Network and I'd really hoped for some faster FF/Rew options like E* has on their *22 receivers. It would be nice if they'd give the option for more than 90 minutes of of the program guide, but scrolling is so...

Is the HD GUI update strictly cosmetic or something more?

HD or not, the GUI was better looking, far quicker, more intuitive and overall easier to use than D*. I'm not saying it was perfect, but comparing E*'s GUI with D*'s current/old GUI is like comparing Legos or an Erector set to those big blocks made for toddlers. Ugly and slow. It's good to...

Is the HD GUI update strictly cosmetic or something more?

That's what I was afraid of. Oh well, still looking forward to the new GUI since that's been my biggest complaint since switching over from E*.

Is the HD GUI update strictly cosmetic or something more?

Just wondering if the HD GUI update changes anything as far as streaming local media to the HR24/H24 receivers. With my DLNA setup, I'm able to stream all of my locally stored media to any of the 4 receivers/DVRs. Playback is pretty seamless but I am unable to FFW or Rew through any of the...

Taking their sweet, frickin' time, aren't they.

Was about to leave DISH for Direct. I'm not sure after doing more research.

Been with D* since March and the guide and look/feel of the interface is my single biggest complaint about the HR24. Sure, the fonts are bigger on D*, but the whole interface looks like it was designed by a grade schooler with a Commodore 64. E* took the time to add things like drop shadows...

Yeah, me too. It's just got more lag than the ViP Dish receivers. You'll get used to it.

    DirecTV Gamefinder for College Football

This is my first season with D* and college football. I've had E* for the last 5. Dish's website had their College Football game finder that listed the games that would be aired each week and on what channels according to which package you subscribed to. It made it so much easier to manage...

    MRV Speed Concerns

I have HR24s with H24s and they're laggy, too. It's just the price to pay for convenience of MRV I suppose.

Moved from Dish to Direct (Likes and Dislikes)

It's almost as though I could have written it myself. Had my D* since February and I've learned to adapt to most of the changes and the laggy performance compared to the E* receiverss but the 1.5 hour program guide and the dual DVR management problems just drive me crazy. How hard would it...

    Anyone Else Seem to Notice

And no sooner do I claim the "blackouts" are no longer than 10 seconds...... this morning it was more than 1 minute. Out of curiosity, I timed it after what seemed like about 15 seconds.

    Anyone Else Seem to Notice

I've been noticing the "jerkiness", too. I wondered if it was a dish alignment thing, as well, but the signal meters are registering the same that they always have. My morning delays are all about 10 seconds and not the 30 seconds that everyone else is advertising. The delays in scrolling the...

New to OTA and need help with inconsistent reception

I've been using the ANT751 for my personal TV and set it up on a couple of other homes in the area where I live and gotten good results. There's no way it's going to pick up backside from 40+ miles, though. I don't have any stations at range from 7 miles out to the 45 miles, but I have tried...

OTA locals w/Dish on 1 cable question

Ok, so I played with Google Maps and discovered that Cave Creek is about 30 miles north of South Mountain, as the crow flies, so I used that to get an idea. I really think you are setting yourself up for frustration with the Channel Master. If it doesn't work pretty easily for you, don't waste...

OTA locals w/Dish on 1 cable question

Depends on what receiver you are using. I used to run my antenna with a Winegard 269 pre-amp, powered from the 722. The 722 is 13v-18v. No power inserter necessary. Just make sure that both of your diplexers are power pass-through. They have to be used in pairs; Antenna lead into the low side...
