    Bud Install

If you're in a rural area, you're probably going to be stuck with putting it up yourself -- unless you know of good, reputable installers. But you'll have more fun and learn a lot putting it up yourself. Mine quit about six months ago. I think I need a new actuator but am agonizing over...

    What brand of Cband LNB,

Cheapest combo lnb (c/ku) I found is $15.99 at ivystoneplace.com. I bought two. With shipping, $40! You can take one apart and see how it works. Put the other one on your dish. Cheap. I'm not pushing this vendor. I've purchased them two times. They were delivered undamaged. This can be...

    Looking for C-band feedhorn cover

I need one, too, but I'm not paying $30. I'd bet you a big black planting pot like landscapers use to put flowers in would work. Of course, you'd have to find the right size for your dish. You'll probably end up having to figure how to fasten it to your base anyway. And the price is a lot...

    Dumped cable today...YEA!!!!!!!!!!

If you have regrets, there is a package which is a well-kept secret, called the Welcome Pack (DN). It is $9.99 per month. With tax, I'm paying $10.50. There are about thirty channels. You only get one receiver with the deal. No locals, unless you pay $4.99 more per month. That's a lot less...

    12 foot cband dish

Check out a website called Ivy Stone Place. I just bought a combination c-band/ku-band lnb there for $15. Two were $30. It cost $10 to mail both. I buy extras to use with old digital fta receivers. It will work with any digital receiver -- including Openbox. A new openbox is $95. It will...

Best damn OTA antenna array, period. At any price. Which one?

Wingard makes an 8200U that is cheaper than the 3671 Channel Master. The specs look pretty good on it. I put a signal amp on my 3671 (CM7777). I'm getting 30 channels at night and 20 during the day. Wingard also has a signal amp that is about 20 bucks cheaper with similar specs. I pointed...

Can I use my Uniden UST4500 VideocypherII Plus for today's C/Ku bands?

Your cheapest route is probably an openbox from China. They're about $100. A v-box to move your dish would be about 35-40 bucks. You can use your old wire from the receiver to the dish -- just lose the polarotor connection because your new receiver would automatically switch for you. A good...

    going back to C-band

An openbox S10 will cost $95 from China. That includes shipping. A modoc dish mover box will cost you about $35. Look at ivystoneplace. They have c-ku lnb's for about $20. You can use your old wire. You won't be using your polarity hookup to shift from vertical to horizontal anymore with...

Chaparral CoRotor II Plus LNB Recommendation

Check out ivystoneplace on the internet. They have cheap chinese c/ku band lnb's for $15.50 each. I ordered two for $40. That included shipping and it's cheap. I don't mess around much with fixing lnb's. I toss them in the trash.

    IS THERE a S2 AND AC3 WORK-AROUND?

I had been getting both S2 and AC3 for a couple of years after I upgraded to a Pansat 9200. Then it quit and I had to find a newer receiver. So I bought an Openbox S10 from China. It costs $95, which included shipping. When I pointed it at 125W ku, I picked up Oklahoma and Louisiana ETV...

    Which Receiver?

I purchased an S10 from alibaba about two weeks ago. It came from Hong Kong. It was $95. Shipping was free. I doubt you can beat that. Its working fine with my ten footer and VBox.

How tall of pole needed above ground

I wanted mine up high. I welded two ten foot sticks together. But its too high to make adjustments to the dish without fear of falling ten feet. And two sticks flex a little. So I had to tether the pole to another point. My intent was to get underneath to mow. And also I have it next to a...

OPENBOX S9 / GBOX SET UP

I had the same sort of problems with my v-box. I finally just gave up and use the remote for the v-box manually. I put a big chart on the wall showing the position numbers for the different satellites. It works fine that way. Its sort of like the old antenna rotator box. People used to...

    87.0 AMC 3 signal levels

I didn't let you know what I was using. I've got a Pansat 9200 with the latest DVB-S2 card. It gets all the RTN channels (about 38) on 87W -- along with THIS. I have a perfect 10 ten footer which someone gave me. I used a BSC621 standard lnb for about two years. I decided to upgrade to the...

    87.0 AMC 3 signal levels

I'm not getting MeTV, but I am getting THIS on 87W and 99W (Galaxy 16) c-band. The Galaxy 16 This channel is broadcast from the Caribbean. There are also several other network channels on that satellite from the Virgin Islands. You may also try OTA. I'm getting a THIS channel broadcast from...

    Praise for Sadoun

I had problems initially setting mine up. The instructions from China are horrendous!!! But its nothing more than a 36 volt transformer with just a few add-ons. Keep on playing with it. Two wires power the motor and two power the reed sensor. That's it. If you set it up wrong, reset it and...

    Praise for Sadoun

I'm a fan of the V-box. They cost about half of what the G Box cost. There's no need to buy the latest model because the only difference in any of them is the appearance of the box. They're 24-36 volts and all offer 99 satellite positions. A v-box V is about $35 postage paid on flea bay...

    AMC 3 @ 87 degrees and mpeg 4

I've got a Pansat 9200 which gets them with the latest card (DVB-S2). But the 9200 is still pricey. You might find an old one cheap, but it will probably have the old N2 card. The card is $139 by itself.

    Crank Actuator

That's pretty impressive that a trailer jack would serve such a good dual purpose. And I really like the way you rigged it up on your dish. It almost looks likes the dish came from the factory that way. Too bad we can't have ten or twelve big dishes in our backyards pointing at different...

    DMX741U C/KU LNBF

I've been in this hobby since 2004. My first receivers were fortec ultra's during the N1 era. I've still got three of them which work fine. My basic understanding since then is that standard lnb's are for the American market -- which means they are compatible more with receivers sold in the...

Can anybody explain why DVB S2 signals are hard to get?

Prices are coming down steadily on DVB-S2. I paid way too much for a Pansat 9200 back in March. It was advertised as including the card installed, but the card was the old N2 card and was good for nothing. By the time I paid $200 for the receiver and $135 more for the DVB-S2 card I had almost...

    bsc-621 vs DMX741

I finally broke down and bought a DMX741 to replace my BSC621-1. But the differences between the two are very small. I just couldn't help myself and had to get one. I wouldn't do it again based upon the results. At least now I have something to compare it to. It is, however, a newer lnb...

    what sat am i on

He's right. You should be able to get LeeSea broadcasting, THIS Carribbean and several other network Carribean stations from the Islands. I believe they are rebroadcasted NY City stations because the 6 pm news is always from NYC. Happy satellite hunting!!!

    true newbie

Provided you keep connections to a minimum, that length should be fine. I'm running my dish just about that distance. I've never had signal problems.
