    Spectrum "Choice" Retention Package? Anyone?

we got the tripled play a few years ago. Bought three Tivos with lifetime on them and setup all our own equipment. Bill was ~$95 total when we started. After the first year, it went up to ~$130. Then, after the second year and SPectrum took over, we are now paying ~$165. It's still not too...

Most Pay TV Subscribers Stay Because It’s Bundled With Broadband, Survey Finds

Yep. We were upset to see our bill go up ~$30 after the transition to spectrum was complete. We have all 3 services, and the total price is still cheaper than we paid for each one individually. We did inquire about making changes after the price increase, and if we were to drop TV and only...

    TIME WARNER NOW SPECTRUM

Get READY... Things have been switching from TWC to Spectrum over the past few months here. Just got the first official bill from Spectrum, and it was ~$30 more than it has been for the past 1.5 years......... Called and got the "your 12-month promotional price ended" line, even though we...

Thinking of switching to cable from satellite... questions

we ditched satellite over a year ago. between satellite, internet, and home phone- we were paying over $200/mo. We jumped on the TWC (now spectrum) $89/mo triple play. We purchased 3 TivoHD units with lifetime. We refused to get any cable box from them due to the crazy fees, and we requested...

    Equipment and Cable Card Questions

you cannot own a TWC box. They will barely let you own a modem. Their boxes stink any anyway. if you want to own your own equipment- get a tivo or setup a pc. we are saving big $$$$ this way.

Time Warner Cable is tempting cord-cutters with new Roku 3 live-streaming cable plans

cool we have 3 tivos with cable cards and rokus every where else already. the triple play for a total of ~$120/mo is sweet

Time Warner Cable Promises to Kill the Cable Box

they are still there, they are integrated into the IRD. it will be interesting to see what takes place.

Time Warner Cable Promises to Kill the Cable Box

Yes, STELAR put an end to the cablecard, but yet satellite providers still use cards for their security. without a doubt, twc is pushing for an all out IP based security system. it is cheaper, easier, and more secure. you used to be able to take a cablebox from one location and use it at...

Time Warner Cable Promises to Kill the Cable Box

it probably has more to do with the cable cards. a tivo will not have any cable channel in HD without it. the roku, otoh, works just fine.

Time Warner Cable Promises to Kill the Cable Box

The roku works amazingly well on TWC. we have 3 tivos and 3 rokus. if they find a way to incorporate a dvr feature with the roku app, then there will be no need for a cable box.

    Cord Cutters

yep- have 4. have always preferred owing equipment- even as a dish customer. there were benefits to that, back in the day, but over the years they disappeared on dish. twc gets $4/mo out of us for the cable cards and $8/mo for the modem. that is considerably less than we paid dish for...

    Cord Cutters

they would probably still argue with you since Uverse provides television via that medium.... and a phone cord is still a "cord" you may be using to watch television..... was dumb enough to get stuck in a few of those exchanges.... LOL

    Cord Cutters

yep. if you talk to hard core cord cutters, they are all about mobile / free wifi. they get rowdy if someone refers to themselves as a cord cutter but still have their cable modem.... LOL.

    Cord Cutters

and if they are getting their internet via a cord?

    Cord Cutters

same here. left dish after ~10 years (disputes and price increases were getting crazy). went with the triple play bundle- and now have 3x the internet speed, crystal clear phone, and way more channels of nothing to watch. saving ~$100/mo

    Cord Cutters

Most of those refer to strictly mobile. their numbers are low, though, because as Ice has noted- mobile data is limited.

    Cord Cutters

Cord cutters still tethered to cable companies for internet.... Lol Some here are very lucky they can get internet for such a cheap monthly rate. TWC was $75/mo for internet alone. When we looked at it, it made sense to try the triple play bundle. We are now saving ~$100/mo for the 3 services...

    picture quality

as stated- depends on your area and your equipment. we left dish for twc, and purchased our own tivos. the quality is excellent and definitely better than dish. we pay $120 total for the triple play bundle. we are saving ~$100/month and have tv on every single television. The roku app with...

Dish Continues to Lose Pay-TV Subscribers

cable isn't available to everyone and some places are not up to snuff, but in the places where it is good- it is good. Except for their equipment, of course. Our tivos are great, the roku app works incredibly well, and every TV in the house is connected and in HD. We are saving ~$100/month...

Dish Continues to Lose Pay-TV Subscribers

left dish earlier this year after about ~10 years of service. it was a tough decision to make but the ever increasing cost finally got to us. we have always had twc for internet. we decided to give their triple play bundle a shot. of course, we bought tivos to avoid the fees. for cable cards...

    Tried to cancel

probably. when we cancelled in January, they offered us $50 a month off for a year, plus HBO and skinemax for a year with no contract. we still left.

    Dish receiver Swap....... Shenanigans!

all the 311 receivers we have worked with only had one SAT connection and no TV2 output connections. guess the "k" makes all this difference since these are listed as remanufactured. you are probably spot on about the 211n..... lol

    Dish receiver Swap....... Shenanigans!

That is what was strange. It still had both tuners, and even showed the error for tuner2 after running the check switch. The software did not include any of the options for tv2. clearly it is a neutered 322.

    Dish receiver Swap....... Shenanigans!

Went to install replacement receiver today. They sent just the receiver- nothing else. On another note, it was a 311k, but the receiver was a dual tuner with the tv2 connection ports blocked out, and tuner2 was inaccessible in the menus. Had never seen this before. There was an issue after the...
