    C-band ribbon cable?

Hi, Can some one point me to a source where I could buy a short length of the 4-strand ribbon cable? I basically need to run it from the feedhorn and actuator to the foot of the pole to connect to the ribbon cable that disappears underground. Thanks, Ed

    450i without remote

Okay, looks like I need a remote. The problem is that, as soon as I know that the setup works fine, I'll have to get rid of the old 450i and get a digital box. Therefore, I don't want to spend a whole lot on a remote that I may only use a day or two before I practically throw it away.

    450i without remote

Does that mean that the setup cannot be done without a remote?

    450i without remote

Hi, I'd like to set up my newly installed (used) c-dish with a 450i receiver but have no remote. Is this even possible or do I absolutely need a remote? Thanks, Ed

    C-dish alignment question

Well, the satellite in the middle of the sky is on 99 West, pretty close to my location at 98.12 so I think I'm in pretty good shape.

    (Stupid)? c-band alignment question

I believe it is the midpoint between sunrise and sunset and it will fluctuate a bit accordingly.

    (Stupid)? c-band alignment question

I do see the North Star at night and that's why I know the North-South axis on my property pretty well. I followed Lone Cloud's advice and caculated the exact time for true South for my location and it came out to 12:40pm. Thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated. Ed

    (Stupid)? c-band alignment question

Hi, Today I tried to align my dish to South. I went out at exactly 12 noon and rotated the dish on the pole until the shadow oft he feedhorn cover was vertically centered on the mesh. Then I checked my compass and it was way off. Then I did the same thing at 1 pm and now the compass reads...

    C-dish alignment question

Okay, that's very likely the solution. What I actually meant was the midpoint of the moving rod, not the actuator housing midpoint. So, I need to adjust the clamp until I reach the exact balance point? The funny thing is, I got this whole setup used and from the condition of the actuator...

    C-dish alignment question

No, I don't have one yet. And, frankly, I don't understand the question. If the highest point is also the balance point (which makes sense), shouldn't that point be reached at actuator midpoint?

    C-dish alignment question

Hi Guys, I've started to align my dish and here's what I did: I turned the actuator (on the bench) all the way out, measured the length of the shaft (19"), marked the halfway point and screwed it back in to that halfway point. Then I installed it again. My thinking was this would give me...

    Need C-band advice

Bottom of a water bottle? Great idea, thanks. On another note, I just realized that the remote for the GI 450i is missing. Since I plan to switch to an FTA receiver soon, I was wondering if someone has an old, functioning 450i remote. It doesn't seem to make sense to buy a new remote to align...

    Need C-band advice

I was wondering if the feedhorn opening with this little antenna thingy inside needs to be covered to protect from moisture?

It's already assembled and on the pole. I'll shoot a picture and post it. Ed

    Need C-band advice

I will as soon as I have this whole system up and running. Once I get at least a few analog channels I'll look at an HD receiver. Are there any that also move the dish or do I need to keep the old one just for dish-moving?

Thanks a lot. I do have a GI Innovation 450i receiver with a Channel Master VM 256.

    Need C-band advice

Thanks to Anole's tip, I got the free dish. It's assembled and on the pole and I have two questions: 1. The Echostar LNB-EA030 has an arrow marking that says "polar axis". Does this arrow marking have to show up or down as opposed to left or right? 2. Can someone point me to the details...

If it's apart, I may not need a truck, right? How big is the largest piece? How can I get your address? Thanks, Ed

7.5' Echostar free to a good home

Hi, I'm looking for a dish like that. I live in Wimberley and I could get a friend with a truck to pick it up. Do you by any chance have a picture of the whole thing? Thanks, Ed

    Need C-band advice

Before I look into an HD receiver, I have to get a dish first and get this setup going to see what it really delivers. Thanks again for all the advice. Ed

    Need C-band advice

Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback. I'm located in the Austin, TX area, if that helps narrow things down. I have a normal areal installed that brings the local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, etc). As to c-band, I'm not opposed to go for the ku band, if my current receiver can handle it...

    Need C-band advice

Hi, The previous owner of my house left me most of the hardware from a c-band setup. I have a GI Innovation 450i receiver with a Channel Master VM 256 installed, the 4-ribbon antenna cable to the dish location, the heavy pole set in concrete in the back yard. The "only" thing that's...
