    Winegard HD-8200U antenna modification

I have a winegard hd8200u antenna that I recently purchased. I remember reading something about an antenna being misengineered and requiring a simple modification to increase signal strength. I thought it was the hd 8200u or 8200p but I can't seem to find any information. If anyone has any...

Don't Believe NPS about C band support ending.

I think it is just as likely that the states don't seem to know what is going on in the rest of the world, or they are putting a twist on the stories.

New FTA service with 20 english channels

I noticed a children's channel is still needed. Smile of A Child TV is on 97W Ku right now and has 100% children's programming.

    97.0°W Galaxy 19 C/Ku

You will receive the stuff on Ku. C band generally needs a 6ft or larger dish. There are tons of channels on 97W Ku so that sat is a good choice!

Ebay Coolsat 5k maybe not such a bargain

I think I might know. No channels scanned into the CS? Possibly combined with the fact that it was not hooked up to the TV? And also a note - you can't JTAG the Coolsat 5000.

    Bell proposes new "freesat" service

Good news! CRTC Approves "in part" FreeHD Canada Mediacaster Magazine - Broadband & Content - CRTC Approves FreeHD Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2010-61 For those to lazy to read, it sounds like Free HD needs to clarify a few things and resubmit, but it looks like this will probably go ahead! Ebay Coolsat 5k maybe not such a bargain

I have seen similar problems where the CS5000 will not boot. I have never had a problem using the loader to load the factory software, or the software from http://ftafirmware.freehostia.com You don't have to press the power button on for the loader to upload the firmware. But if it loops as soon...

Reviews: SatHawk PVR800 WorldDVB DVB-S2 HD FTA Receiver

The reason is processing power. On a computer you need 3Ghz+ P4HT (or equivalent) processor to properly play a 4:2:2 HD feed using a software codec. My guess is the processor is not quite powerful enough for that! If it is a hardware based, then processing power is a non issue as the chip would...

Going Green and Saving the environment

I don't think LED's will be the answer for everything. They will probably work ok for some things like signal lights and traffic lights (in warmer climates). LED's are directional. Ever notice when you use an LED flash light, you can't see anything in the shadow? Thats because the LED light...

Giveaway - WS International DMX524U Quad Output Universal LNBF

I would get a bigger dish. 1 or 1.2M. Maybe a new motor to go with it (or a package deal) Then I would buy some odds and ends with whatever is leftover. Cable ends, LNBs, etc.

Going Green and Saving the environment

In my house if I use incandescents, a little more power to heat my house comes from hydro-electricity (renewable) that would otherwise be heated with natural gas (non-renewable). And in summer, I hardly have the lights on because it stays bright outside late into the evening. :)

Going Green and Saving the environment

So I guess these bulbs aren't saving that much after all if they have to be left on for long periods to last. Funny, I was at the hospital the other day, and in one of the rooms they have a CFL bulb, with the switch taped in the on position, and a sign stating that the light needs to be on all...

Going Green and Saving the environment

Ever wonder why CFL bulbs just don't have a nice light like incandescents, and why they give you a headache (or at least me!) Here is the light spectrum of an incandescent. And here is the light spectrum of a CFL I think I can see where my pulsating headache is coming from! Sorry...
