    STO MIA?

Me too. On my CS8000 I entered to new TP data & tried to manual scan the new TP. By bumping the BUD, the best I could do was get 5%-7% Q on the CS8000. I liked having the SD signal available, because with 30 seconds of wire-switching, I could use my CS5000 to send the signal to the back BR via...

Coolsat 8000 HD or Coolsat 8100 HD

I have a CS8000 & an AZBox Elite. For our "everyday viewer", we use the CS8000 b/c it's been pretty easy for my wife to figure out how to change channels & satellites with it. To me, the cs8000 is an excellent tool to have for just watching TV. It's tuner seems to be more sensitive for...

Legal Placement of Dishes on Owner's Property

Somewhere, on the FTA section of the forum, there's a copy of the FCC rules that over ride any local, state or HOA regulation on dishes. Iceburg (who IS a HOA president) has dealt with similar issues at his neighborhood. You might want to post this question over in the general FTA forum or the...

I bought mine off of ebay. Occasionally, I've seen one 'for sale' in the classifieds here at SG's.

Suggestions for decent FTA system for around $100-$150

Based on MY 'beginner' experiences I would recommend the following: 1) Get a motor. That's more important to me than dish size. It's easier to aim a motorized dish than it is aim a stationary dish. To me a 30" dish with a motor is better than a larger dish & the money's about the same. 2) Right...

    c band satellite

NO whatever you do, don't fool with it. In fact you need to remove it from your property, and as far as that goes, remove it from your country. Load the dish & other stuff up into a rental van, fill all the available empty space up with Moosehead or Molson's and drive it down to South Carolina...

What's tops in satellite projects on your "When Spring Arrives" list?

And those "pine-bore beetles" could spread and cause other problems in the future also.

What's tops in satellite projects on your "When Spring Arrives" list?

I gotta figure out a 'non-satellite' excuse to sell my wife on to get rid of about 10 large pines which are blocking my BUD's LOS from 72W to 83W and from 101W through about 119W. Also, if she visits her sister for a couple of weeks, I really could use a third line of RG6 run from my dish...

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

Actually Radar, I am trying to track the arc with it. Here's what my goal is: I want a semi-fixed dish that can occasionally be easily repositioned at least from 72W to 101 or 105 W. So the suggestions have been relevant. I didn't get as far as I wanted yesterday. But I did get my contraption...

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

Update on my project: After a little thinking while walking up & down the aisles of a local HD store and a Lowes & stumbling around in my garage, I hit on the idea of mitering wedges out of some old-used "5-4" deck boards to slip between the dish's back plate & the pole sleeve assembly. I...

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

I remember considering trying this a couple of years ago. But I won the now dead motor in a contest & installed that instead. Fortunately I had bought a used spare for $25. I think that it will be more convenient & precise setting the latitude utilizing the shell of the dead motor. Also, I...

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

That is an excellent mod, Phlatwound. I think, however, I'm going to try using a spacer between the plates first. The motor's arm fits beautifully except for needing about 10 degrees of more 'travel'.

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

Thanks Mikey, I think that idea would work also. If mine doesn't work this might be the '1.02' attempt. There is one significant difference b/t the mounting designs of the DN shown & the DTV: the sleeve assembly on the Slimline is a separate piece that can be removed from back plate. The...

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

Hey guys, I'm not going to buy another motor; the point of the project is to salvage some use out of a motor gone bad & a slimline that was just setting around doing nothing & basically have only $5-10 extra into it. So it's going to have to mount shaft down. I am going to try getting 3/4" to 1"...

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

That's what I was afraid of...I think I might be able to get more elevation adjustment by using piece of 1" x 4" or 1" x 6" as a spacer between the sleeve and the back plate of the dish.

Compensating for dish elevation with motor's latitude adjustment?

Gotta a question that I cannot wrap my mind around: If I can't adjust a dish up to its correct elevation, can I compensate for that by raising the latitude setting on the motor? (I'm attempting a project where I trying to install a DTV Slimline onto a 'shell' of a SG2100 whose motor roached...

:::Giveaway for testing from WS International:::

"I want to review the all new WS7630 dish Vs. my Fortec Star 75cm dish". Actually, my dish is an 80 cm dish, but maybe that's close enough. Good thing is that I'm in SC, so winter weather shouldn't be a huge issue. Gotta SG2100 motor that I'm using & my set-up is tracking the arc pretty well. I...

    Audio through RF output?

With the house full of family & guests, I did not get a chance to experiment yesterday or yet today. My goal is to be able to view & hear programs off of the azbox to a remote tv via the rg59 cable that is already run under the house.

    Listing channels by satellite?

Thanks Radar!! I'll try this tomorrow after santa gets done at our house. This sounds like it's better than trying to figure out what is what on the 'all-channel' page:)

    Audio through RF output?

I'll have to try this tomorrow playing with audio options tomorrow. AFA the AC3 channels that I tried so far were BLTV, STO HD, THISTv (if I recall), MeTV (none of these worked) What did work: RTV on 83W KU, NBC feeds; STO SD, Al Jaz ohn 121.

    Audio through RF output?

    1) Radar; Gotta a chance to try a couple more channels. So here's the deal: The audio is good-to-go as long as it's NOT AC3 audio! 2) So that leads to the next question, hdfan: Is there a setting that allows AC-3 audio to be passed through the RF output??

    Audio through RF output?

Thanks Radar for the response. 1) The channel was supplying audio to the main TV via HDMI. 2) The volume control on the other TV (connected by the RG59) had no effect the audio...it was silent regardless. 3) We regularly play the bedroom TV via the RG59 with either a CS5000 or a DN STB with no...
