    Channel Master 1,2m issue

Quite a number of topics covered on this thread - neat stuff too. Getting back to the focus issue, what do people think of applying a reflective film (HVAC metal tape or the auto store rear view mirror repair film) to several locations on the dish and using the sun to find the focus point?

Need help modifying Dish 500 for FTA

I read a posting a while back where the person had cut up a rear view mirror repair kit (essentially a flexible sheet that is a mirror on one side and adhesive on the other) and stuck pieces of it on his dish. Then he pointed his dish at the sun and the focus point was the point at which the...

    Dead LNB?

If most people are like me (I hope not) at some point in time they convince themselves that they have a dead LNB and purchase a new one only to find out that it was a cable or connector - so might as well get it over with and purchase a (soon to be spare) LNB ;)

What size dish to reliably receive S2 signals for both C-Band and Ku-Band?

    > A single ortho is about the lowest-loss C-band feed available to consumers and can be purchased new for around $50-60. > A pair of new, low phase noise LNBs can be had for $100. These are bargains in my book. Pendragon, What are you using for your single ortho? Thanks

    The "Buy This Satellite" campaign

I am not sure that this is exactly the right forum for this, but I found it interesting and though others here might find it interesting too (it is definitely "Free-To-Air"). There is a group trying to buy a used sat to provide internet access to the Middle East and Africa: 'Buy This...

    Channels?

I have missed Nasa TV since they encrypted it. Does anyone happen to know if the pc card tuners are capable of turbo 8PSK - I have a prof 7301, I don't see turbo 8PSK in the spec's but I am a bit fuzzy on what is done on the board and what is done by the computer.

    Anybody try a Multi-dish array

Cheap PLL LNB I thought I had read that there were now inexpensive PLL LNB that had been developed for the VSAT market. I could not find anything quickly using google, but I thought that I would mention it, maybe someone else has more info.

    Experimenting with MiniBUD 90cm

    > 3. I could not get C-Band and KU at the same time (not sure why) Could you elaborate on this? Were you able to get KU when you were connected just to the KU side of the DMX741 or were not able to get KU at all with the DMX741. Nice pictures and thanks for the info.

    Channels gone at 43w?

I could not find anything on 43W last night either, but I sometimes have difficulty with this sat, when I get a station my Q jumps all over the place, I suspect I am getting terrestrial interference.

Enter to Win: Sponsors Super Satellite Sampler System - Contest Ends 2.28.2010

What got you interested to purchase your first Free to Air satellite system? It looked interesting (something more than the big networks) and it was a challenge (it took more than just paying a monthly fee).

    FTA HD DVB-S2 IRD

Gift Box??? SatelliteAV, I sincerly commend your approach, but I have to ask about one item. Does "gift box" mean something more than . . . well a box that a gift comes in, or did you just slip that in to see if anyone was reading the entire list :D

    Media PC

Just out of curiosity, what happens when you try to view this site with that machine and you are not logged in? Do the ads just bring the machine to a grinding halt? You may not need the fastest machine but you proably need something a bit faster - there are a lot of inexpensive used machines...

    FSR-2000

I don't know how those ebay photos look (ebay is blocked here at work), I just tried to take a couple of pictures with my cell phone, but it does not have a macro mode so you can't read any of the labels. If I can remember to bring a camera I will post a photo or two tomorrow. I happen to...

Splitters, diplexers, power inserters, tap couplers, attenuators, in-line amps

Only a partial solution Agreed, this certainly does not address everything that is being discussed in this thread (although admittedly I am not clear on exactly what all of the objectives are). I think that this type of switch is one step up from using the loop out port on a receiver. If...
