    Getting 922 battery worries

rv1pop Yes that's what I have. Apc UPS with step aproximate sine wave. These units were made for computer backup. Computer power supplies are switching supplies very similar to the power supply in the 920 and 922. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Hermitman Thank you for some really good info...

    Getting 922 battery worries

No one really answered my question. Will the 922 retain it's ID with the power applied even with a dead battery?

    Getting 922 battery worries

I've worked on motorola 2-way radios most of my life. I am very aware of the way motorola does things. I agree that GI started this but they didn't need to replilcate it. That's the way most species go extinct. They have flaws and don't reproduce. So they are doomed.

    Getting 922 battery worries

Ok so I agree that the UPS is a big battery. So has it been proven that as long as the receiver is powered up the ID won't be lost, even if the lithium backup battery is dead?

    Getting 922 battery worries

sergei you just contradicted yourself. You said a UPS will not retain the ID. Then you said that as long as you keep it powered up it will retain it's ID. Well that's what a UPS does. It keeps it powered up. So which is it????????

    Getting 922 battery worries

Will a UPS actually help retain the unit ID?? Or will the unit ID still be lost when the battery fails even though powered up? Is the battery voltage reading accurate when the unit is powered on? Or should the measurement be made with power off?

    differance between 920 & 922

Hi Do a search, there are more threads on this. There are probably more knowledgeable people here than me. The 920 began about 1998 and was discontinued about 2003. The 922 started about 2001 and I think was discontinued in 2007. I'm sure there will be some out there that will be correcting me...

    Getting 922 battery worries

If it is true that to replace the 922 battery the board needs to be removed, then there would be no way to do it with the power on method. Is that true? What if you have the receiver on a ups and your afraid if you pull the plug disaster will result? The 7th digit on my 922 serial is "4" I...

What are the chances of finding a 922 remote?

Finally success with the 4DTV dsr920 remote getting the volume and mute working on the dsr922 :D:eek: I called Tom Sherrill at ATS. He seems very knowledgeable about these things:rolleyes: 1. He told me to press the 4DTV button until the led flashes. 2. Then press 1 0 0 the the led...

Got my 922 of course I'm clueless

I set the dish on G1-3 last nite before bed. This morning the guide was there. I'll check it later in the day and see if it's still there.

What are the chances of finding a 922 remote?

Thanks Tom but I don't think those remotes have UHF. That's a really nice feature and I want that. I don't like to have to point the remote at the receiver all the time

Got my 922 of course I'm clueless

No, when I got the guide this morning on G1-3 the signal was perfect. The guide finished and was there. Some time later in the day it just said information unavailable. Like before when there was no guide. Of course the subbed channels are on W5. Not going back to G1 until tonight. Pretty poor.

What are the chances of finding a 922 remote?

Yes it does flash the led on the remote and the led on the receiver. Then I hit it one more time. No change I can tell When I press the volume or mute the led on the remote flashes but not the receiver. I don't know if it's the wrong code or it's just not putting out anything. I have a one for...

Well after loading my guide again this morning. It just disappeared again all on it's own. Pretty unreliable.

What are the chances of finding a 922 remote?

Well I tried the sat button thing. Doesn't change anything that I can tell. Still no volume and mute. I think you might be talking about the 922 remote.

Got my 922 of course I'm clueless

Yes I absolutely changed the mover to reed switch. The analog receiver would not work with the pot either. I just mounted the switch close to the shaft and glued some tiny neodimium magnets to the rotating shaft. I just had one on there originally, and that did work. Then I went to 3 to get...

What are the chances of finding a 922 remote?

Thanks for that link lak and tvro :) Haven't tried it because the wife is watching tv and I don't dare :o You mean I hold the sat button that you use to change satellites? Or the 4dtv button that changes from 4dtv(satellite) to tv and vcr? I have a 922. And the remote is for a 920. I just...

Got my 922 of course I'm clueless

I'm trying a W5 package through SRL. That way I shouldn't need to move the dish much. I see I must have messed up the sat map or not set my limits correctly because the receiver couldn't find G1 last night. I'm working with an ancient dish and mover here. Which is part of the problem I'm sure...

What are the chances of finding a 922 remote?

Well I got the 920 remote from ATS. It's a nice brand new remote. I was assured that it would control the 922 except for some aux function. Well I found a couple functions that don't work so far. Volume and mute. The 922 has a controllable audio output That's probably not a problem for some...

Got my 922 of course I'm clueless

I got it subbed. The guide came immediately. What do they do? Send data to all known unsubscribed ID's and tell them to turn off all other features? I know there is a data stream. But it has to be one way because I'm pretty sure the receiver doesn't transmit
