DirecTV & The Walt Disney Company Sign Expansive Agreement

Dish lost quite a few of Disney's HD channels during that time. I know they had the SD channels still, but SD looks like hot garbage on any HD set bigger than 40". I'm not paying to watch stretched out SD when I have a nice TV in my living room. Also, the worst BS I've seen a provider pull...

Just saw a commercial, DirecTV may lose AMC and other channels, is this true?

I noticed that neither AMC's or DTV's commercials aired during TWD tonight.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

I see it on par with Encore. Not sure where I'd put Skinemax, now that I'm older than 14. :) Maybe slightly below those two, but I'm not a fan of either of those channels as well. Now that I think more about this, I'm not sure at 500M that DTV can leave it at the HD pack only, without a...

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

So there's a handful of exclusive series offered. Still no more than other services. And the vast majority of movies are ones that have had a run on the other pay channels. I had this channel when we used to have Dish, and it was hardly anything I missed. I'd consider it the least of the...

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

$500M for a channel that carries movies that have run through every other pay channel and are for the most part on Netflix? That's just plain stupid. At this point, I'm going to be more likely to call DTV in anger and ask for discounts and ST for free if they bring BACK the Viacom channels.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

My younger kids will be happy to see Disney Jr tomorrow. Heck, my 6 year old is really liking the Kid's Mix channel and how he has one point to find all his shows. He hasn't cared a bit about losing Nick, but I have a feeling he's not going to be happy once the Kid's Mix channel is gone.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

Slightly off topic, but I saw that AMC is going to live stream the premiere of Breaking Bad for Dish customers. AMC to live-stream Breaking Bad premiere for Dish customers I know it's self serving, but it's definitely a way different path than Viacom is taking.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

Didn't have a problem today. They moved over to Disney shows once I told them why they had the Kid's mix channel instead of Nick. Not even a peep once they realized it wasn't a glitch in the system. EDIT: And Phineas and Ferb aren't NEAR as annoying as SpongeBob.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

If I don't have to hear my kids watching SpongeBob this weekend, I'm going to write a thank you note to Viacom for their greed.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

However, your argument about forcing someone into using their VOD doesn't make sense, because I can stream it on my 360, PC, or iPad. And DTV isn't the only one who is doing this. A couple of other providers are authorizing everything but Roku as well.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

From what I've read, each provider has to approve the devices that a subscriber can watch something like HBO Go over.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

The thing I don't get about DTV and not allowing HBO Go on Roku, is that they allow it on Xbox Live and iOS devices.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

Well, they pretty much proved they were the ones pulling channels by pulling their offerings from their website, and putting every potential viewer in the middle of their spat with DTV. That said, a lot of their viewers watch stuff like Teen Mom and Jersey Shore, so they've proven they'll lap...

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

My complaint on Dish wasn't that they had disputes, it's how they handled them in the past (before I switched). When they lost FX a couple of years ago, and just put the feed of HDNet in there while still calling the channel FX and showing FX on the guide like nothing happened, that was the...

So far, no bans yet. Kinda disappointed, really.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

It has to be a case of missing some posts, because they deleted 5 or 6 that were post right after my first two. I even invited the ban when I put this one up: That one is still there as of this post.

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

Surprisingly, they haven't taken down any of mine yet in reply to their post claiming Direct was removing the channels. They've removed a bunch of others, but still haven't even removed my post calling out their removing of posts. I think I have stealth capabilities. :)

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

They've taken out a bunch of recent anti-Viacom replies on the anti-DTV page, but managed to miss a couple of mine. So, I threw out a post asking what they have to hide. Ban in 3...2...

I figured it had to be Spike, because I could switch to other channels without problems.

Ugh...can't stand the gossipy crap, no matter how much they make fun of that brainless group.

    E! Network

All I care to have on that otherwise awful channel is my weekly dose of making fun of the Kardashians. Aka...The Soup. Everything else on that channel is bottom feeding garbage.

DIRECTV reaches deal with Tribune (Or maybe not!)

Yes, Pappas pulled their stations from DTV on the 31st as well over a dispute. Pappas is crying that they want more than what 99.99% of broadcast stations are getting, and keep comparing themselves to what ESPN is getting. What I found funny about all of this is that in November the ads bashed...

    Slow Hr-22-100 Piss poor CS

My HR-21 is giving me fits of late also. It's been not quite a month, and we're getting up to a few minutes of delay when going to the guide or DVR programs. Our HR-24 downstairs isn't doing anything like this, so it can't be the whole home DVR system. At first, I thought it was because we...

Newbie From Dish - Just Switched & Having Doubts

They were pretty helpful to me when I goofed and got 2 regular HD receivers and a DVR instead of 2 DVRs and a regular HD receiver. Sent a DVR to replace the H24 quickly. They sent an HR21, but that DVR is only recording my wife's crap she likes on TLC anyhow. :D
