    switching radios?

Hi. I just finished installing a new deck in my car, one that is XM-ready. I've installed the xmdirect adapter, and xm works fine, I just need to activate. problem is, my subscription is still for the plug-n-play unit I had in my car previously. How do I switch radios? Also, does it count...

    Finished my XM Installation

Is anyone here going to say anything constructive at all? Anyone over age twelve should be able to say more than just "this is terrible, I'm at a loss." That said, thank you korsjs and minorthr. Maybe some of you do have cleaner installs - so where are the pictures?

    Finished my XM Installation

I explored that option, but the molding was too tight around my windshield.

    Finished my XM Installation

What's the big problem? So what if it's not all nuts and bolts - It's hardly noticeable from the outside or inside, especially now that I painted the metal brackets black and took a sharpie to the mounting tape. I also hid some more of the wiring. Why are you guys being so harsh? There's no...

    Finished my XM Installation

What do you mean? Are you implying it's ghetto? If so, don't forget mounting pads and shelving hardware! Then again, if I could be a superhero, I would be adhesive-man.

    Finished my XM Installation

Alright, I finally finished my XM Radio installation. The reason I went with XM was that it cost me $35 for all the up-front parts. I installed it on my dodge neon such that the cord ran straight out to the driver side, then down the black rubber groove in the roof. Antenna attached to roof...

    Just got my XM Radio

As I said, I do have a vent mount and have tried it. It simply doesn't work well in my car. However, I did come up with an even better solution, I will post pics when I am done.

I went with XM, big mistake?

I finally got the vehicle kit for my Skyfi2 XM receiver for $50 off ebay. The skyfi2 itself was free (which is why I went with xm). Did I make a big mistake? I'm having trouble mounting my XM, and I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should sell my XM stuff and go with sirius. What do you think?

    Just got my XM Radio

Hmm, I was really hoping there'd be a way to just stand it up. Maybe I'll buy some L-brackets at Lowe's and ghetto rig it.

    Just got my XM Radio

Right, but that mount is only for solid vents, not ones that move up or down.

    Just got my XM Radio

Hi. I have all the equipment to ge tmy radio working, I just need to activate. I have one large problem, there's no way to mount this thing in my car! All I have is basically horizontal space and controls. The swivel mount is obviously designed for a vertical surface. Does anyone have...

    XM Vehicle kit?

I finally found one on eBay for $50. A huge ripoff considering what I'm getting. A few proprietary cables and nothing more.

    XM Vehicle kit?

Hi. I'm having a ton of trouble trying to find a vehicle kit for my SkyFi2 receiver. I have just the receiver and remote, and need a car kit. They are very hard to find on eBay, and it almost sounds cheaper to buy both than to buy just the car kit! Where can I find a vehicle kit for cheap?

Just got a SkyFi2, no vehicle kit

Well, I ordered the SkyFi2 receiver/remote thinking It'd come with everything I need. Well, it didn't. I have just the receiver and the remote. No antenna or anything. So, what do I need to get this working in my car? Obviously I need an antenna. I don't have a tape deck, and there's no...

So how good is the sound?

Well, I basically hate the sound quality coming from the normal FM radio. I'm one of those annoying people that can tell the difference between an MP3 and true CD quality. I probably will end up with XM Radio rahter than sirius, simply because I haven't found any receivers I like better that...

So how good is the sound?

For XM and Sirius radio. Is it CD quality? Is it even close?

    siruis vs xm

What equipment do you need to get sirius in your car if your head unit is sirius ready?

    siruis vs xm

What equipment is needed for Sirius? I was reading about XM equipment, and for a XM-Ready radio I'd need a smart digital adaptor and a tuner box which would cost me about $100 total. I'm not sure about sirius.

XM Equipment - what do I need?

Is there any 'good' way to mount the antenna on, say, a dodge neon? I don't mean as far as the position of the antenna, but I mean as far as the wiring...how do I hide the wires from the antenna and get them through the door? Further, How do I hide the wires that will be going to my head unit...

XM Equipment - what do I need?

Does it require a special antenna for satellite, or will the normal antenna (used for FM and AM) work?

XM Equipment - what do I need?

Hi all...I've been looking into XM Radio and I'm quite skeptical. It seems like it isn't even practical unless you are driving a mercedes, cadillac, or lancer evo...I mean, it's really high-end. By high-end, I mean expensive. It seems the cost-benefit ratio is about 10:1. But, to give it a...

    Confused about sirius and xm

Hi...I'm just a regular guy who likes music. I'm looking for some sort of cheap equipment (sub $50) that will simply either: Receive/tune xm or sirius signals and output the sound via optical audio out, or 5.1 channel line out, or regular 2 channel line out. Is there any such thing?
