CBS Hartford pulled from Cablevision in it's own market

Interestingly, CV phone-called their subscribers on Sunday morning to advise that CBS was back. FWIW, Fairfield county is CT's most populous county. Ffld does get its CBS Jets games on CBS-2, the Pats games com in on CBS-3. There are other scenarios where Ffld folks might choose CBS-3, as well.

CBS Hartford pulled from Cablevision in it's own market

More news: 1) the reason that New Haven CV subscribers have NO access to CBS is two-fold. WFSB pulled CBS-3 AND CV pulled CBS-2. CV is lying about this on their CBS-2 screen. 2) CV is pulling CBS-3 from Fairfield county, but Ffld still has CBS-2 3) CBS-3 pulled itself from CV everywhere...

Cablevision Could Be a Good Pick as the Industry Consolidates

CV does appear to be setting the standard for negotiating with local channels. Their habits of charging-full-price WHILE they are paying nothing for absent channels is troubling, though. I wonder if there are any lawyers with time on their hands...

CBS Hartford pulled from Cablevision in it's own market

It also augurs for future trouble as ABC-7 & ABC-8 or NBC-30 & NBC-4 get into 'snits' with CV in the near future...

CBS Hartford pulled from Cablevision in it's own market

It IS interesting that, unlike the FOX-CV fight that ended up with CV dropping FOX-5, the interim availability of CBS is suspended on free-per-view cable boxes.

CBS Hartford pulled from Cablevision in it's own market

I am in New Haven County. Both CBS-2 and CBS-3 have been pulled (but not the CBS sports station). CV is showing a screen that advises: CV wanted to retain CBS-3 and dump CBS-2; CV 'felt' that paying/charging for two channels that carry the same programming was wasteful; CV advises that CBS-3 got...

    adios WPIX

The antenna continues to work, but OTA reception isn't rock-stable for NY5 from my house. NY2 is tremendous, because of their mid-LI repeater station. NY5 is supposed to be getting a transmitter-power boost, but I don't know when it is planned to happen. The CM DVR-alternative is rather good. It...

    adios WPIX

The World Series Baseball's world series starts Wednesday night and this bruhahah will clearly cause interruption for CT's Cablevision viewers in New Haven and Litchfield counties (it looks like Fairfield county gets NY5). I just wonder if CV is showing some misfeasance in putting this-segment...

One more update. Interestingly CV's Channel 500 permits access to September/October FOX shows, even though CV isn't presenting ANY channels that carry FOX. So if you want to watch Bones or any FOX show, you can! I want the football, and that isn't available by this technique.

Update. Antenna in attic works great for NY5. Still pricing Channel Master 7400 against Entone's (the latter does firmware for CM and sells its own stuff, too). ESPN on IPTV is still an investigation, too. It is amazing that Tribune hasn't cracked, either. In the heat of the Election-spending...

    adios WPIX

In CT, this fight includes Hartford 61. FOX TV & NFC football. I put up an antenna in my attic today. I aimed it at the Empire State Building in NYC. It works, I get FOX5! CV dumped NY5 more than a year ago, in a fight with FOX. There are a few providers of IPTV for ESPN, etc. With this success...

    Optimum iPad app...

It looks like the ap checks to see if you are going through-Cablevision and through-home. You might be able to fool it with a VPN tunnel, but I haven't tried it. The VPN (virtual private network) would involve a VPN-manager on your home network accepting a VPN-tunnel request from another devices...

    Optimum iPad app...

The iPod touch and Android apps are also nice. They don't have the live-TV feature, though. One question to Isaac, does it work on neighbor's WIFI setups or on Optimum regional WIFI setups? Thanks

Southern Connecticut Cablevision now has WFSB-HD on 701

The other really nice thing is that CV has cleaned up its QAM lineup, too. Most QAM tuners will assign 2-1 to WCBS-HD, 3-1 to WFSB-HD, etc. This could basically obliterate the need to have an outside antenna. AFAIK, their price for these channels is 'Broadcast Basic' for $15.52. It doesn't...

Southern Connecticut Cablevision now has WFSB-HD on 701

Cablevision has finally plugged one of my pet peeves. We now have Hartford Channel 3 in HD. We had previously only-had NYC Channel 2 for CBS. This is good because NFL-AFC Football is on CBS. More times than I like to recall, I ended up watching the standard-def Ch-3 to see the Patriots play...

    Fox v. Cablevision: STAGGERING increases!

I am in CT, where Hartford 61 and New Haven 59 can displace FOX-5 and FOX-9. Hopefully, they didn't make us pay for the new OTA costs.

    Fox v. Cablevision: STAGGERING increases!

One little correction, I should have said Hartford-61 and New Haven 59. CV added New Haven 8 a year ago when ABC went through a similar issue and was ready to pull ESPN and NYC 7.

    Fox v. Cablevision: STAGGERING increases!

Some interesting possiblities: - Isn't the price for basic-cable limited? Will CV have to lose-money on basic-cable under Fox-proposed costs? - Can CV offer programming without high-cost channels? I know that basic-cable is a way of diluting costly-contracts over the entire user-community...

    Fox v. Cablevision: STAGGERING increases!

Fox Business News has certainly been halted on CV. That is in addition to NY5 & NY9... I do see that FNC is still running, though.

    Fox v. Cablevision: STAGGERING increases!

Isn't FOX about asserting a conservative perspective. Won't it hurt their followers if they don't hear from FOX so close to election day? There is real risk that FOX's editorial inputs will be less-clear in their marginal followers next Tuesday? Fox certainly has some incentive to get this fixed!

Fox has gone-missing on CV in Metro New York...

CV has announced that several channels (NY-5, NY-9, Fox News, Fox Business News, etc.) have been withdrawn by Fox/News Corp. They are in some negotiation where News-Corp is attempting to double their fee to CV. For some time, in Connecticut, we have been getting Hartford 61 (DTV 31) instead of...

    Cablevision and QAM Tuner

Hmmm, The Ct Attorney General is running for Governor. Perhaps you should make him aware of your plight.

    Cablevision and QAM Tuner

There is also another alternative. TIVO can (with a $2/mo cable card and $7/mo 'CV line fee') decode all non-SDV signals (pay-per-view, some others). It can then redistribute to other TVs in your house. You need to look at a cost-effective solution (some configs aren't cost-effective at all)...

    Cablevision and QAM Tuner

They can certainly change the QAM channels at any time. I have had to rescan the QAM channels twice since the analog-sunset. I doubt that CV now really requires a cable box for broadcast basic. BB often has to be provided at ~$15/month, which leaves little money left for renting a cable-box...
