Thanks for the responses. That's good news to me. I didn't look forward to reprogramming my macros.

Can I leave the receiver powered up at all times?

Is there any issues with leaving it on all the time? I had 'power on' and 'power off' programmed in my remote's macro, but my hr23 was acting weird with repeated tests (power on, power off) so I just thought i'd leave it on. thanks

DVR code for Home Theater Master Remotes?

It varies. The Power button is one i'm having issues with now. I an using an unused device button, but I may have to AUX155 it and start over. I didn't think about the punch through. I did some reading online and I'm going to try the "duck blind" method tonight. thanks

DVR code for Home Theater Master Remotes?

Hi. sorry to bump up an old topic, but i'm having trouble learning some buttons on my mx500. Some work, some don't. I just had an HR23 installed and I'm working feverishly to get the remote programmed for the wife. Did any of you have to use a "one for all" for some of the commands? Or did...

    More Newbie questions

A couple of more questions if I may: Are the HR23's being installed or are they still slowly rolling them out? And, if I recieve local channels from DirectTv, what is the benefit of an AM21 OTA tuner? Thanks, I really appreciate the info.

Oh, another question: I know installation is free, but will they charge me for the dish and LNBs? Is there "nickle and dime" on the install? thanks

    More Newbie questions

Thanks for the answers so far. I currently have Comcast and an 80 hour Replay TV. I really like my DVR, but the single tuner is frustrating. I was about to go the Tivo route and keep comcast, but I think Direct TV is for me. again, thanks

    More Newbie questions

I have decided to kick Comcast to the curb and go with Direct TV. I have a couple of questions. I don't currently have and HDTV, but plan to get one within the next 12 months. Should I just get the HD DVR receiver now or will they allow me to upgrade later? Can I have the HD DVR and not have...

    Do My parents have FTA?

Inno: They don't pay a monthly fee for any service, which leads me to believe that what they're watching through the STB is FTA. Jayelem: I didn't pay close attention to what they were watching. My mother asked me to look at her setup after I loaded up my kids in the van so I was pushed for...

    Do My parents have FTA?

Thanks Pro96 and Wescopc. I don't know what service provides the portuguese channel. What I meant by "can I program"? I think what i'm trying to say is "can I add channels (services). My mother pointed out the dish on their roof and it was 30-36 inch size range. Sorry for not having that...

    Do My parents have FTA?

My elderly parents asked for my help and I came here for advice. Their lives pretty much revolve around watching TV (they're in their 80's and not very mobile). They only watch OTA Spanish/Mexican and Satellite Portuguese TV through a STB. My question is about their Satellite setup. they had it...
