Actually, both times tonight I got someone in the US...

Well, we find out... My CC company pulled the payment, and "magically", my account got frozen, and my receiver was deactivated for HD, because I am now "delinquent"... So, one last email to ceo@echostar to see if they want to keep me as a customer... Oh well, at least I got my $100...

Who will win? I've had Dish for about 6 years, so I'm one of their "most highly valued customers"--or so the phone recording tells me while on hold... So I finally get rid of my 6000 :eek: and do a dishin' it up and switch to the all HD package. Mind you, I already have a perfectly good 500...

Loud? You should have heard the fan on the OTA card for the 6000 receiver! I recently got a 722 (but most likely will be canceling Dish anyway--but I'll post my saga in another thread) and immediately noticed the fan noise--and it's about 2 feet away from an erstwhile HTPC which has 2 80mm...

My bad... thinking of the 8VSB... Excellent suggestion--pulled the module just now and it works fine... since I don't get any HD now, I don't need the 8PSK. I don't think I would have ever thought of pulling that module out... now I can use it for target practice!!! :) Thanks so much...

Removed that long ago... it went bad, flaky tuning. Went through the fun of replacing the fan hoping it would be more quiet... I think the heat it generated burned out the modem--haven't been able to dial out for years...

Tried that already also... nada... I tried most combinations I could think of, just in case it would give me any more info--in all cases I still show no signal... I have checked all possible connections/connectors, and they are all great looking, even the one in the LNB, it looked new...

Not sure what running a switch check will do with no switch in the circuit... but I was curious of the result, so I did that already multiple times... And, ta da, it comes back with "no switch detected"... :) But seriously, no other messages of any sort... still no signal detected... And I...

That is my only receiver... it does make it a bit more difficult to diagnose... I was running the 500 and 300 into the SW21, then into the 6000 receiver...

Yes, I still have the 6000 as my only receiver, dropped HBO/SHO long ago, don't have LiL HD, and with the MPEG4 stuff... well, I just haven't done much... and had cable for basic channels... Anyway... some time back the SW21 switch looked like it was going bad (error messages and bad switch...

That would be kinda funny... but no... I'm in a market that only has a LP (low power) repeater station, OTA is not an option. So maybe we survived? How does Dish "stop" distant networks anyway? Do they just block your receiver? Obviously, the satellite is still sending out the NY CBS-HD...

Well, it's Dec 1, and I still have the NY CBS HD feed... But I damn well should, in my city, we basically don't have a CBS station, it is WILM-LP, note the "LP" part. It's a Low Power repeater facility, and as such, there is absolutely NO way to get CBS OTA. No complaints! :)

CSI (the original) has really sucked lately with a lot of macroblocking...

I saw my first full page ad in the paper for DirecTv warning people that if you have Dish, you will lose all locals, so switch to DirecTv... We basically have no CBS station in Wilmington, NC--it is FCC classified as a repeater I believe, it is impossible to receive them via antenna due to low...

Regarding some comments about letting people take you to court where you will then show the OTARD when it's your turn... This isn't necessary, the FCC can pre-emptively rule against a complainant before they ever take full legal action against you. The FCC website itself has details of cases...

CBS - East didn't look near as good as my TimeWarner cable feed of WRAL Raleigh CBS as viewed through a MyHD mdp-130 card...too bad they don't have DD5.1 on the cable feed...

Synch is horrible right now, but on my TW cable feed of CBS HD from WRAL-Raleigh, the synch is fine...

I've noticed it lately too, it's a recent thing, started maybe a few weeks ago... I see it only on the non-HD channels (when I actually watch non-HD channels..) I'd suspect something not related to our receivers...like a problem on the Dish end....because it hasn't always been there, and...

Well, some of you may be crazy anyway :) ... but not due to poor CBS picture and sound. I've got it too, and have called Dish, and like others have said, they are working on it. I get CBS on 61.5....

It's only a matter of the OTA module, the rest of the 6000 is ok (well, except for the last couple software "upgrades" that ruined remote control operation). If I'm going to spend more money, it wouldn't be to replace a first generation OTA tuner, I'd put it towards a MyHD mdp-130 computer card...

Well, hadn't used my receiver in a while, turned it on last night and it's got some serious problems... could be coincidental, or something broke both my OTA card and receiver... damn, and I just hurt my budget with a Canon L lense!!

Ran the antenna directly into the tv, and it works fine. So it seems that the OTA card indeed has lost the VHF portion, but retains the UHF... Pulling the module for a few hours didn't help...
