First Smartphone, or phone that really impressed you!

The Nokia communicator 9100 was the first smartphone I was impressed with. Back in 2000 I was living in Germany when I bought it for1000 marks, about $600. It was the only phone I've had that could send and receive faxes.

    WildBlue ViaSat1 the real scoop

Just want to ask something. While I can understand its to be expected that satellite broadband should cost a premium over DSL, cable, etc., these caps seem really restrictive. Is satellite technology really so incapable of meeting the needs of it's relatively limited customer base, in regards to...

    dsl signal strength?

I had an issue with noise on my DSL line at my office once, it really can slow things down and interfere with VOIP services. My upload speed would constantly drop to about 300-600kbps. If I restarted the modem it would work fine for a few hours and then just slow down again. My phone company...

What do you use for GPS in the car and are you happy with it?

I use the free Google navigation app that came with my android phone, its the best nav app I have ever used on a cell phone. I really like how I can I can just say my destination without having to type everything in. I used to use Navigon on my iPhone before I upgraded, it was decent but pretty...

I got my letter yesterday, also mentions a new guide coming out as well. Looking very forward to that!

Banks now require good credit to open checking account

Chase offers checking accounts to people with bad credit, it's $10/mo, though. But hey, better than nothing.

It's official. Sprint is moving to LTE

I doubt it. They didn't compensate any of their nextel subscribers when they shut down WiDEN. Maybe they've learned their lesson by now, though?

Sky Angel Update - Going to be HD Capable!

Nice! Any info as to which channels will be in HD? Will they charge extra?

Anyone Playing with Windows 8 Beta?

Makes sense since windows 8 looks like it will be garbage. I've been a huge fan on Microsoft products in the past, but I think rebuilding their flagship product to mimic their mediocre mobile OS is a terrible idea. iPad copies are not the future, just ask HP, RIM, and Motorola.

Is the $79 Kindle e-reader a revolutionary moment for the publishing world?

I have to agree with him as well, the iPod was not nearly as revolutionary as the Walkman. Nor is a kindle that's just $35 cheaper than the previos low-end model. It's nice that it's cheaper, but what "revolution" is this exactly starting? It's just the same old monochrome e-ink display enclosed...

How much Sky Angel do you watch per day?

I'd say I have it on a couple hours a day. I mostly watch Angel 2, INSP, RFD-TV, fox news, World harvest, and GMC. I know there are some who will disagree with me, but I think they should have 3ABN on sky angel, I would watch a lot more if they did.

No Posts for a long time?

Thanks for the tip, jholland, I used zap2it to find dr. Jack van Impe's show today (used to watch him on TBN until he recently left). I love how it has all the airings listed for each show, was able to find a channel that had it in the 48 hour archive.

Big Brother finale didn't record tonight

I just went through the guide on my Tivo (I use it for OTA) and noticed that the finale was also not set to record on it, even though I have a season pass for BB. I'm on the west coast so it hasn't started yet here, that's a plus. Must be an issue with tribune media.

No Posts for a long time?

I do, just got it last week. Picture quality is very good. Love the 48 hour archive most channels have. I wish there was a way to change the guide layout to a more traditional one, though.

    Sodastream

I have a soda stream, but hardly use it as the price of syrup isn't that good of a deal. However, I have found really good prices occasionaly at Sears and Kohls. These things are very popular in western Europe, and have been for over 10 years, so I doubt there is much chance of them going under...

FOX Programming moved to a digital sub-channel. Will Dish carry?

Oh, I thought it was maybe something like dish network was about to get into a carriage dispute with his local channels, or they're going put banner ads on every HD channel, you know, the stuff that wakes people up in fear in the middle of the night. :)

Nope, Directv has lower credit standards than Dish right now, so they may offer the OP a better deal.

I have this exact same USB cable. It has a built-in repeater, thus allowing it to exceed USB length restrictions. Works very well, never had any issues.

    Is the 612 good unit?

The 722 is worth the extra fee. The 612 is less reliable and does not have as many features, e.g. PiP, upgraded VOD interface, Sling capabable, etc.

    Help me STAY with Dish

Lol, unfortunately also from dish CSRs. Maybe someone from DIRT can confirm which is true?
