Aah, tropo events. In my younger days living in Minneapolis there'd be a handful of summer nights when KTCA 2 was almost unwatchable due to co-channel interference, even with a rooftop antenna. IIRC, they'd even have a crawl going saying the poor picture quality wasn't their fault.

Don't know about a recording, I just get a message saying some of the recording is missing because of signal loss, but reboots have been happening to me ever since I got my OTA dongle. Happened this past week in fact...plane passed by, signal broke up, receiver rebooted.

He said all Dish offered him was a one time $5 off the locals. I don't think Dish today is as gung ho as they were in the past with passing out dongles and antennas like Halloween candy.
