how do you do the boolean timer? I need something like this so I can create a timer for MLS games.

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

No problem. I'm just glad to be rid of using as much wireless. I hate wireless networks.

24 series internal DECA with broadband connection question.

My receiver must be defective. I am currently running one of my 2 HR24s on a purely ethernet connection, the other using its regular DECA and MRV works just fine. What is supposed to change?

    Frustrated with the AM-21 design

Again, no, that is not what I am talking about. You aren't even reading what I'm saying. Here is the example.... Enter zipcode AABBB, Directv has database entries for 9 channels in this zipcode 3.1, 3.2, 10.1, 21.1, 21.2, 27.1, 33.1, 33.2. Now remove the frequencies from 2 or three channels...

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

I finally tested the DECA network. I had one computer plugged directly into the 4port 100Mbps router. The other PC was plugged into a DECA in the living room. Transferring large files using windows file sharing (not the fastest protocol) resulted in upstream transfers from PC @DECA of 88-92...

24 series internal DECA with broadband connection question.

MRV won't stop working just because you plug an ethernet cable into the receiver. The MRV data just travels through the ethernet cable instead of the coax.

    Frustrated with the AM-21 design

Again, people must not know how to read lately. I totally agree the AM21 pulls info from the D* database. My point was ONLY that the AM21 does do some type of scanning because it will only pull down guide info during setup for channels it can see the OTA signal. I have verified this several...

    Frustrated with the AM-21 design

I would do some basic trouble shooting just to make sure. If one of the other digital TVs is small enough, move it to that location and see if it still gets all the channels. Check the signal strength at both locations. The AM21 might not handle weak signals as well as the TVs.

    Frustrated with the AM-21 design

I don't think you completely read my post. I had sub channels that wouldn't appear until the AM21 actually saw the OTA signal. It would only pull the guide info for the OTA channels it saw the signal. Once it saw the OTA signal for the other channels, it then pulled guide info for those...

    Frustrated with the AM-21 design

It does do some type of scanning because it won't load the locals if it is not seeing the signal. I know this first hand when trying to get an antenna aimed properly and having some bad coax. It only fetched channels and added to the guide the ones that it saw the OTA signal. Once the...

    Internet connection and on-demand

I don't think opening ports will change anything for you. I use DHCP and have all my ports completely closed/stealth. Zero problems using on demand features. It takes very little time to try the DHCP setting and see if that helps. Are you sure you are using the right DNS servers?

    Frustrated with the AM-21 design

You can order the AM21 through your online d* account. it is about $55 after shipping, I think. I ordered mine and had it w/in 2 days.

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

No MKV file should stress a 100Mbps connection. The most I have seen a video file use up is about 30-35 Mbps. I still haven't been able to truly test the bandwidth of the DECA cloud.

DishNetwork customer with questions about MRV

If you are watching live TV on at least one of the HDTVs, it doesn't matter. You'll be fine. If you are trying to watch 2 different recorded shows, one on the DVR TV and one on a non DVR TV, I think you are fine. If you try watching 2 different recordings from 2 TVs and neither is at the DVR...

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

I got the DECA for $15 with free shipping. Went and got a cheap 5-2500Mhz splitter at home depot last night after receiving the DECA. Split the coax to the HR24 and the new DECA. MRV and everything is working flawlessly. My HTPC is now wired instead of wireless and things seem great. I...

Yeah, that is the right one I linked. You shouldn't need to worry about the DC pass through.

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

You are reading it correctly. Generally, the black one comes with the power supply because it doesn't have a power receiving coax terminal that can be connected to a satellite receiver that provides coax line power. The white ones are designed to work with a receiver. So if you don't use...

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

That one should work. The white one would work, too but you need a separate stand alone power supply to connect to the satellite output terminal on the white DECA. I am also doing this (ordered a black DECA). In case you are interested, the DECA cloud is supposedly capable of 250Mbps. The...

Need to know how to get a swm 8 switch from direct tv

You would need one diplexer to insert the OTA onto the coax and distribute it to each location and then another diplexer at each TV location to separate the signal back out. You can also buy the splitter SWM8 online if you want. Use google. Solid Signal probably sells them, too.

Using DECA for streaming media.....can it be done?

That diagram will not work because you'd lose MRV at the HR24. The HR24 has no power for an external DECA. Bring the RG6 from the wall into a 2-2150MHz splitter. Run one splitter output to the HR24. Run the 2nd splitter output to a black DECA box or a white one like you have pictured but the...

Need to know how to get a swm 8 switch from direct tv

if you are using MRV, you have to have separate copper for your OTA and MRV. Option 1: Run separate coax line to each tv that carries just the OTA Option 2: Use ethernet cables to carry the MRV data and diplex the OTA signal onto a single coax.

Help! Have HR24's with whole home DVR but want to connect other ethernet devices

If you have a DECA, why not just plug it into a small 4 port switch and connect your satellites eithernet port instead of using its built in DECA?

Help! Have HR24's with whole home DVR but want to connect other ethernet devices

no. You need to either run an ethernet cable to the location you need it or setup a wireless bridge wherever you need it.

    DECA & DHCP

I'm pretty sure the DECA is just a transceiver/bridge between the two networks. It is your satellite receivers that will actually get assigned the IP address. Each one will need its own IP. Sorry, to simplify, it acts purely as a switch/hub.
