Just connect your OTA feed directly to your TV for emergencies. Why tie up a tuner? You can then record two shows and watch a live show OTA. You give up the option to record off the OTA feed, but the ability to view 3 live feeds may make up for it.

If your equipment will be out of service for a while, it only takes a minute to take your OTA coax and connect it directly to your TV. Or better, use a splitter and have it connected at the AM 21 and your TV at the same time.

After my install today, two of the four tv's lost local channels after the update. The first was fixed with a phone call to DTV. They sent me an email with a link to fix the other myself.
