I have been using the 8000HD Local daily since September 2013. It is not perfect but it works well and is an excellent PVR. The terrestrial tuner is quite sensitive. As a satellite box goes it works better than many I have used and I have never had the urge to hurl it out the window. :biggrin2
DirecTV jacked up their prices (again) just over three years ago and I cut their cord. So in March of 2011 I went 100% FTA and OTA. I don't watch what I used to (which is a good thing) and have fun watching what I now get. I have 6 stationary KU dishes and have more than I could possibly watch...
I would have been all over this deal if it were not for the timing of it. Last month for me was the equivalent of a financial forest fire after being rear ended by an uninsured driver and having my car totaled out.
I have been looking for a new C-band dish for some time that would be...
I am a firm believer in UPS usage. The MicroHD is plugged into a UPS and I imagine with its low power draw, it would run for a very long time, recording its DVR timer schedule through a lengthy power outage.
What I do is go to an accurate channel such as GodTV and turn the GMT on and set the proper zone to get accurate local time. Then I turn the GMT off and the time stays accurate until the power is interrupted. If there is a better way, I have yet to happen upon it.
DVR
Would it be possible to get a "confirm delete" for the DVR? I hit the yellow button by mistake (easy to do because the yellow button brings up the file list. I am used to buttons acting as a toggle) and zapped a file by accident. Lucky I already watched the program 'cause its gone now.
Thanks.
My order for the MicroHD was placed at 4:43 am pacific time at the start of the promo and it shipped today
YES, i AM excited.
My friends kid me for being such an early riser, it does pay off sometimes :D
I am 2 days ground shipping from Sacramento, can't wait.
I was wondering if Glorystar would consider adding JN1 to the channel lineup?
It is a news channel new to Galaxy 19.

Dish size has to be the key. I have a 1 meter dish and Montana PBS freezes intermittently. (openbox S9) LPB does well when there are clear skies. I think I need at least a 1.2 meter dish for these.
I have the GEOSATpro DVR and despite its few limitations, the timer recording function is rock solid. I have an Openbox S9 and it drives me nuts, will it record, maybe it won't, what time will it record, etc.
I can't wait to try out the microHD!
