    501 lost signal on 119 & 110

The workings and circuitry of these devices shouldn't be too different from typical computers. I've only seen servers/computers flip out when the power of the transmitters exceed four watts. (Not a pretty thing to have happen, btw.) In theory your wattage is too low from those devices, I...

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

Thought you might be interested. I just installed a 921 behind approximately 175' of old RG-59 that the previous owner installed in this house on a single feed using a separator and the DPP44. I was fully expecting to have to replace the RG-59... I was very surprised this worked. I've...

Success: 921 with DP Plus 44 and DP Plus Separator

I was able to do it with one feed, essentially. I had the DPP44 switch installed, only a single feed from it to the 921 and a Separator, but on v.185! It downloaded 1.86 via what it thought was "Tuner #1..." I got the software, no problem. The rest...well see above. -Jay

Success: 921 with DP Plus 44 and DP Plus Separator

I had a DP34 switch, with 119 in input 1, 110 in input 2, and 61.5 in input 3. The 921 was not connected at this point, for various reasons, including that I was waiting for the DPP44 switch to be available... In my last house, I had the 921 hooked into two separate feeds into a SW64...

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

Hmmm... My insticts tell me there is a common denomenator here. When I initially set my separator up, I was actually running 1.85. I knew it probably wouldn't work, but I figured what the heck, and plugged it all in right into the power inserter and port 1. The 921 *did* boot, and it...

    Anyone see this??

Both of mine work and I love them, but hey, call me kooky.

Success: 921 with DP Plus 44 and DP Plus Separator

I'm happy with it, now that I got the Separator working. If anyone besides me has problems getting the Separator working on port #1 of the DPP44 switch, let me know... I put the power inserter close to the switch (about 10 inches of RG6 between the inserter and the switch), the RG6 about 25...

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

Thanks for asking guys...(sheesh.) No, I did not mix up the DPP Separator and a splitter. Here is an update: I *did* get the Separator to work. Here is how I had to do it on my system: 1) I hooked two feeds directly into the 921 with no Separator. 2) I ran a check switch. The 921...

    DishPro Plus 44 Switch Review

DPP Separator "Doesn't work with the 921 or 721" After several failed attempts to use a single feed from a DPP44 switch to a 921 unit using a separator near the unit, I was informed by a CSR that the code on the 921 and 721 does not support the separator yet, and that only the 322 and 522...

    501 lost signal on 119 & 110

Speculation This is just speculation based on some experience with manufacturing... Given the high volume of 501's out there, if you are the support group and you see a high percentage of units with defects at the same time (say, upwards of 30-40%), you recall or classify it as a defect...

    501 lost signal on 119 & 110

Tested, definitely isolated to 501 I'm experiencing the same issue, beginning roughly two weeks ago. If I hard power cycle (unplug, wait, plug back in) the unit, it fixes itself fine. If I cold power cycle, I need to perform a new check switch, which takes longer and lasts less time. It...

    921 aspect ratio screen shots

Stretch Modes... I agree with what everyone is saying, I guess I've been looking at more recent release HDTV models which seem to offer modes for component and DVI inputs. However, excellent point: If you're TV can't do it, well then Echostar has a good feature for you there. I admit, I'm...

    921 aspect ratio screen shots

Stetching is great... Stretching is great, all I'm saying is that since the 16:9 televisions do that stretching very well, why would I want the receiver to do it? I'm sorry, I'll drop the subject... :)

    921 aspect ratio screen shots

And I meant to say... Not "standard-def EDTVs" but "4:3 EDTVs."

    921 aspect ratio screen shots

Maybe I'm being stubborn on this issue... Most HDTVs I've evaluated do various stretch modes, anti-burn-in options, and methods of taking advantage of genuine anamorphic sources. Even standard-def EDTVs will take an anamorphic image and do the letterboxing itself better than the DVD player...

Initial thoughts on 921 (was: It's coming to tomorrow)

re: aspect ratios and 921s... Maybe I'm really confused, but it seems to me that the ideal world is where your receiver outputs whatever is naitive, and your television does the stretching or zooming. I understand having the ability to take a naturally 16:9 source and outputting it as an...

Funny 921 discussion with Dish representative

Last week a Dish rep told me to call Dish "early on the 22nd" to try and order a 921, as he had "received a bulletin that they could be ordered directly as of the 22nd." I figured, what the heck, no information has been accurate so far, but what do I have to lose? I called at 12:30am on...
