We've made plates out of a few different materials with good results, sometimes upto 1dB stronger than the usual supplied slab. Both CD cases and a nylon chopping board can make very effective plates.

That's an interesting mount, the dish looks like the generic Jonsa/Fortec Star but I've never seen a polar mount available for it so is this something that Tek2000 manufacture themselves? Just one question if I may, is declination set using the two bolts in this pic?

Use something like satbeams.com to check the footprints of the satellites you want to receive as well. You mentioned Astra 28E in an early post but apart from the ME beam on 2E you'll need something a lot (A LOT!!) bigger than a WF to receive anything useful.
