The future of local channels on Directv?

This is something that I am very curious about. I have a soon to be obsolete RCA DTC-210 with a phase 3 dish. I am receiving distant locals for New York HD. Is it to my advantage to wait and upgrade when Analog tv is turned off? I am wondering if all the MPEG 2 local channels will be cut...

    Primestar dish and H.o.a's

Yesterday I received a letter from my Hoa about my Primestar dish in my backyard. It mentioned that I had to seek approval from the Archetechural control committee to have it. Is this legal for them to do this or is there an FCC mandate that says this is ok. I beleive my dish size is 30 x 39...

    Retention deal for HD

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Last January I got a retention deal for an HD upgrade. I received a HD receiver and 6 months of showtime free. I was under the impression that I had to keep the HD pack for 1 year. Today I called A CSR, sounded like an Indian guy...

DirecTV has control of Spaceway 1 Back:

My Dma number is 54 Austin Texas. So The Spaceway satellite deployment time is meaningless. Besides I get Almost all of my locals in HD ota. With the exception of Fox, which will go full power July 15th. There just isn't much quality programming in HD anyway. Unless the programming providers...

    Directv rolling out Active finally.

Wink interactive was ok. I could check the weather in any city and check sport scores. I was definately sad to see that go. Probably won't be able to take advantage of it untill Mpeg 4. I do not have a D10.

Another new install phone requirement ???

I have never had a phone line hooked up to any of my receivers, and I have been a customer for 3 years. All I pay is the separate mirroring fee for each additional receiver.

Hughes HTL-HD/Sony HD200-does the ATSC tuner work without the access card?

I know on my RCA 210 it works. There is a dish configuration menu. You can select no dish and as such will act as a stand alone. No card is required. Your receiver might work the same way

    Directv Media center.

Heard a lot of rumors about the new Directv media center coming out after the launch of several satellites and the switch to MPEG 4. What I am wondering about is how they plan to get a signal from the box to each room in the house. This would require an expensive re-wiring of everyones house...

Directv: No Fox HD in Austin.

What a battle Finally won out. After calling KTBC and talking to an engineer, he verified what I suspected all along. They do not process waivers there. To the end a customer service rep from D* still tried to play it down saying that if they do not do waivers they can't turn it on. I just...

Directv: No Fox HD in Austin.

Actually got the waiver approved from KWKT and called the HD department again. This time they say it is back to getting a waiver from KTBC in Austin. Even though it is an O&O. I guess KTBC is desperate not to lose any viewers.

Directv: No Fox HD in Austin.

Called the number and there is 2 affiliates that I have to worry about. Since I live North of Austin they say they need a waiver from KWKT in the temple or Waco area, which is also impossible to pick up being over 75 miles away. FYI Got some info about our local Fox station it is only...

Directv: No Fox HD in Austin.

Have just upgraded my system to HD, I was expecting to get Fox hd right away because they gave me Cbs Hd from NY. Fox has a much weaker station here in Austin, only 800 W which is next to impossible to get in my area. They said that the best they could do is to process a waiver which could take...
