Retention deal for HD

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this.
Last January I got a retention deal for an HD upgrade.
I received a HD receiver and 6 months of showtime free.
I was under the impression that I had to keep the HD pack for 1 year.

Today I called A CSR, sounded like an Indian guy and asked him if it was ok to drop the HD pack and get a movie pack instead. He told me that it was ok to go down to total choice. But he had to ask someone.
It sounds to me that the commitment he read was for SD equipment.
Maybe I am talking to the wrong dept or something.
I would love to drop the hd pack and actually get something that I would actually watch. HBO or Starz.
Any ideas?

You don't have to keep the HD pack for a year. You do have to keep at least Total Choice for a year.
