    I have to admit...

I'm very pleased with the Hopper and Dish in general so far. There are some bugs and quirks, but that's expected with any new product. To me it feels as if the video quality is much, much better when compared to what I was getting with Time Warner (HD vs. HD, I don't mess with SD stuff).

Public Service Announcement: The Hopper can bring your Internet to it's knees!

So yesterday I'm playing a game of League of Legends on my PC. I notice my ping time is up in the 300-400 range where it's usually in the 40-60 range. I didn't think much of this until my game stared, then I could tell it felt very laggy, I would click to move and my guy would stand there for a...

    The "Input/Pair" button, fail?

On occasion I need to change inputs on my TV. With other remotes I would get a list of inputs on the TV since that was the device "mode" I...

    Install today!

I just got a call from the dish installer. I'm the second call of the morning, so he will be here in a few hours. He said that this was going to be his first hopper install so we would be learning together.

Can the Hopper replace an AppleTV/Roku used for local content?

I have most of my DVD's (mostly kids shows) backed up to digital file formats. For years now I've used DVDFab to rip the DVD contents, then encode the contents to AppleTV2 format using Handbrake. I then stored those files on my network. Using the AppleTV and iTunes, I could stream these locally...

Hopper Ordered! /wave Time Warner Cable!

That's right. I've been with Time Warner for years now and we just made the switch. I'm a tech guy who's been watching for the hopper for about a month now and I'm excited to be making the switch. We currently have 3 rooms in our house, one with basic cable (no DVR/cable box), one with a DVR box...
