That's the thing. I don't think any Dish DVR will really function if it becomes unauthorized, will it? If this is the case, then all the EHD would be good for is plugging into a desktop and being reformatted for extra file storage because the Dish recorded programs would be forever unaccessible.

Sorry about my typo up above. Meant to say 2 TB EHD instead of "TV." If I found that I could buy an old Dish receiver that is compatible with the EHD -- even if I were to leave Dish -- I'd do it in a flash.

The problems continue, and now -- at 9:23 p.m. -- the H3 abruptly shut down and I got a blank screen. Seems to be doing either a reboot or upgrade. Looks like 1 a.m. came early today.

I'm not up on the technical stuff, but it does seem like a Hopper3 uses TWO satellites? In any case, I went into the diagnostics section and it was listed as satellite 72. Didn't see any other satellite referenced.
