TWO portable Dish antennas for two-channel access?

Those dish pointer apps are absolutely horrible, as long as the skew and elevation are set correctly on the dish you should be able to go to the aiming installation menu on your reciever then turn up the volume on your TV so you can hear it while you're aiming the dish. Then slowly turn the dish...

Exploiting MoCA to Hack into Lan/Wan

I don't see many installs with the node indoors, sure it happens but quite frequently it's outside. Though I would agree the chance of someone just breaking into your wifi connection is greater. I just found it interesting to see that someone had the forethought to try and attack MoCA based...

    Ugly Dish Satellite Install Picture

Just tell him the tech left wires hanging, he should put in proper service loops and zip tie it. He may or may not move the dish, placement depends on line of sight with the satellite and distance to the nearest ground source. Just ask The tech that comes out and see what he can do for you.

Exploiting MoCA to Hack into Lan/Wan

I found a somewhat old article that proves to be a good read. I thought others here might find it interesting. MoCA is used in the Dish hopper/Joey installations and I'm sure it's used in other networks as well. The general idea is that because MoCA allows internet/Ethernet packets to be piped...

New Dish Network Tech with Digital Dish in Ohio

Thanks Claude, I'm headed in for my first day of training tomorrow. I just hope I can get to the $15/hr mark with my metrics, they claim that is average for their techs but I'll believe it when I see it. I'll be at $12/hr base pay after training. I'm trying to save up so I can buy a place for my...

With Pokémon Go, Nintendo is showing that it takes mobile seriously

I don't think they are taking mobile seriously just yet. So far all they've done is sold a license to a company to push out an unfinished game and rake in money from licensing. Now if they update the thing to include all the features of any real pokemon game, then maybe. With how popular the...

Dish installation - max coax length?

I've been reading training material from Dish Network that claims 200' should be the max run of coax.

    Pokemon Go

I like the idea/concept of the game but they need some major freaking updates. I grew up with the original Pokemon so while I appreciate them using the originals in this game they've done a lot of things that have really killed it for me. You can't trade anything, I hear there will be an update...

    Cheap 10 inch tablet

I had that model once, never used that specific app on it but it was a great little budget tablet. Worked with every app I threw at it, including netflix/hulu which don't work on some cheaper tablets. I would get the Galaxy tab 2, I'd still have mine if it were up to me.

    Cheap 10 inch tablet

No name tablets can be scary. I would avoid Intel based tablets as I believe the Dish Anywhere app is only compatible with arm based devices. The Samsung galaxy tablets are pretty affordable though and should be compatible. $150 new for those.

New Dish Network Tech with Digital Dish in Ohio

Thank you Tampa8, I appreciate that. I went ahead and posted over in the installers section. That was my first choice for this thread but I was a bit weary about it as I want to ensure I don't break any of the forum rules. If all goes well I'll be on this site for some time to come.

New Dish Network Tech with Digital Dish in Ohio

Thanks, I was originally going to post there but I was thinking since I wasn't technically in the field yet or anything I didn't want to post somewhere I might not yet be welcome.

New Dish Network Tech with Digital Dish in Ohio

Hello everyone! Starting in about a week I will begin my classroom based training with Digital Dish, an Authorized retailer for Dish Network in the state of Ohio. (I'm aware of some of their mucky past, lets hope things are better) There are a few points of concern I have and I hope that I...

    HackRF One

The RX sensitivity is trash on the hackrf, you'll want an lna for every band you work it. You can tx with it but being half duplex makes it really limited. Fun to play with but an sdrplay will likely bring you more bang for your buck. No tx but unless your a researcher or a ham doing odd...
