    I have Philo too and I am very happy with it. I never tried YTTV - too expensive and I wouldn't watch most of the channels.

    Streaming services and commercial skipping

    I have Philo and they recently added commercial skip on DVR'd recordings. It makes shows so much more enjoyable, being able to quickly skip over the commercials. They don't charge extra for this either, they just quietly added the feature.

    What about the Tivo Edge for Antenna? It is currently on sale for $299 which includes a lifetime subscription to the guide and other features. It only has 2 tuners, but that is enough for me. The interface looks really good. 4k, HDR10 and Dolby Vision support. Or is Tablo better?

    Looking for a VHF/UHF Combiner

    I use a Stellar Labs 33-2230 to combine my separate UHF and VHF antennas, and it works great. I have it inside the house near my TV because my UHF antenna is on the roof peak, and the VHF is in my back yard.

    Thanks boba for the suggestion. I don't see me buying more Dish equipment. If I purchased anything it would be a Fire TV Recast or Tablo, and if I did that I would cancel Dish and subscribe to a streaming service such as Philo.

    Apparently that is the case. I think OTA channels were an afterthought on the Hopper. But with all of the broadcast disputes and increasing fees, being able to receive OTA on Hoppers is increasingly important, at least it is to me.

    I tried changing the direction of the antenna but sadly it didn't work. Maybe the Dish programmers can enhance the OTA software to allow us to manually add channels that didn't scan in. That would be a big plus.

    I agree, Dish needs to have channel selection abilities similar to Tivo and Tablo. As for swinging the antenna around, I don't think that will work because channel 8 and the other 2 VHF channels are all in the same direction.
