    Retrofit DirecTV dish for OrbyTV?

I found two threads, "Directv Slimline for FTA" and "Dishes to re-purpose", nothing really applicable. Saw a note from one user that mentions his modded Slimline, I'm reaching out to him.

    Retrofit DirecTV dish for OrbyTV?

I've tried lining these up, and no good at all. I have the DirecTV slimline HD mount with the fine adjusting screws. The three holes to rotate for skew on it are upside down (two on top, one on bottom) from the Orby bracket. I got one of the DirecTV Worldview dishes from SolidSignal, same...

Correct way to split signal for two recievers?

This did the trick on the first try, hooked it up like the Zinwell shown in another post.

    Best signal strength?

I'm in Dallas, Texas, with a wide open view of the sky. Best signal quality I can get with the V8 Finder meter that came with the self-install kit is 74%. Does that sound right?

Correct way to split signal for two recievers?

I've tried the high-frequency splitters, that's where I'm at now. No matter where I install it's either "A" or "B". I'm ordering the Eagle Aspen 3x4 multiswitch, too.

    Retrofit DirecTV dish for OrbyTV?

That's a significantly larger reflector than the Orby supplied dish. Does it boost signal, as well?

Correct way to split signal for two recievers?

This is for a RV install, replacing DirecTV. I have all of the DirecTV stuff disconnected. Using the supplied diplexer I can get the first TV to work fine with the RV's amplified roof top antenna and Orby dish connected. no matter where I split the signal from the Orby dish, it seems, when I...

    Retrofit DirecTV dish for OrbyTV?

Yeah, the heavier DTV adjustment head with screw jack fine tuning was really what I was wanting to keep. Any change in performance from with Orby reflector to the DTv reflector?

    Retrofit DirecTV dish for OrbyTV?

I'm trying out the basic OrbtyTV dish and DVR receiver, liking what I see so far for the price and lack of contract required. I have a bunch of DirecTV stuff now that's surplus, as I transition is there a LNB that works well with Orby that will fit the rectangular end of a DirecTV LNB arm, and...

Portable RV tripod project: Where is my beam really pointing?

"Portable" and "RV" are the keywords. Not worried at all about what's up there later. :-)

Portable RV tripod project: Where is my beam really pointing?

Then, how big of a "hole to the sky" do I need to get the three main DTV satellites? This is a view from the DishPointer Pro Android App. I'm not saying this is enough of a window, but an example I can illustrate. It seems to me at a hole at least the size of the slimline dish is needed...

Portable RV tripod project: Where is my beam really pointing?

In big 'ol C-band days, it was easy to see. With the oval dishes with offset LNB, it's harder for me to visualize. I'm guessing about where the green arrow is pointing?

    XM PCR Computer Receiver?

I had one of these, used the software to record music channels in 2004-2006. Yeah, it got chopped down very quickly. There was a third party company, Time Trax Technologies Corporation, that was around through at least 2006 that made software to record it, also. Software was called "ReCast"...

    What is reverse band?

My installer at the house told me that the LNB needed to be switched out from a SWM to a RB SWM when I got a Genie and a 4K mini. -- later -- I'm working on a tripod dish for an RV I'm picking up soon, and ordered new hardware for that from Solid Signal. Instead of the "DIRECTV Slimline...

Totally new to AIM meter, SWiM, trying to aim a basic tailgate dish.

I saw the damage to the box but I wasn't concerned enough. I have clean parts to compare with tonight. You're right, should have taken pictures. Live and learn. Hope to do a bakeoff with clean and warped dish tonight to see.

Totally new to AIM meter, SWiM, trying to aim a basic tailgate dish.

I've have a spool of RG6 cable, good quality F connectors and crimper. Has there been any improvement in RG6 quality or standards in the last few years (namely, to support SWiM) that I need to be aware of? Assuming I want to get some more cable to have on hand, and a few spare couplers and...

Totally new to AIM meter, SWiM, trying to aim a basic tailgate dish.

My next step if I didn't get an answer today was to haul a DVR and TV out there so I could watch the signal level while I twisted. Yelling back and forth is an exercise in frustration I'm done with. I know the meter is overkill for me, but I got a deal and it solved another problem, too. :-)

Totally new to AIM meter, SWiM, trying to aim a basic tailgate dish.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a WINNER! I went back out to brave the mosquitoes and try again. Unlocked the az and el, stared at the compass, and went to where I though 180 should be to start. Nothing, not a peep. Rolled a little west, nothing. Rolled WAY back east 20-30 degrees?) and got a...

Totally new to AIM meter, SWiM, trying to aim a basic tailgate dish.

From the geometry, I would agree. But, it doesn't seem to see ANYTHING at 183 az. When I'm peaking, it thinks it's on 101, I'm assuming it knows it's own mothership -- but I'm new to this meter.
