Wally manual recording does not play!

Appreciate the input. By way of update I finally realize that even though nothing happened when I tried to select the recorded version if instead I pressed PLAY repeatedly- sometimes 6 or 8 times-- the recorded version played. Just one of the weirdnesses I encounter with the Wally and external...

Wally manual recording does not play!

?? Well, yes-- but that doesn't help me in any sense as far as a solution goes.

Wally manual recording does not play!

Strange. I can set a manual recording on the Wally and when I go to the list of recorded programs it shows up, channel info and time duration are displayed as expected, but no matter what I push, it simply will not play. All other recorded programs set with the TImer work normally and there...

    Watching store programs "offline"

Thanks. Yes, we have the external HD/DVR but often are in areas with not OTA reception. Also I do understand the other limitations you mentioned (one sat a time + X2 not working with Hopper). I went back & forth between the X2 and Hopper and only went with the X2 in the end for its ease of use...

    Watching store programs "offline"

That's interesting-- thanks for the input. It seems that somehow the connection is tested at some kind of interval when not online.(?) If we could count on a week's worth of viewing for those instances when we're not set up, that would be useful.

    Watching store programs "offline"

Aha-- I've definitely do that IF we had a Hopper! :) We currently have the Pathway X2 with the Wally and external HD and I'm considering whether the Hopper would be worth the investment as it enables one to record more than one program at a time.

    Watching store programs "offline"

Assuming I'm able to successfully set up a Hopper 3 to use with our RV while traveling, will it be possible to watch any pre recorded stored TV programs without having to reconnect to the tripod mounted Dish? For example, were we to pull into a Walmart for a quick overnight, will we be able to...

    Dish Satellite finder app advice?

By way of update... we moved to a new site today and were presented with a similar challenge in finding Dish Satellites. Opened the Winegard app you recommended where I could see that the Western arc of the Dish sats-- which was what I wanted since that's where the local network channels were--...

    Dish Satellite finder app advice?

I think I did look at the Windgard app earlier but as it had relatively poor ratings, didn't follow through. Just downloaded it now and I have to say from what I see it looks like just what I need. I'll give it a try tomorrow during the day to see how accurate it is. Our current location will be...

    Dish Satellite finder app advice?

That's an interesting and creative option. I'm quite familiar with Google Maps features but never considered using it that way.

    Dish Satellite finder app advice?

Great-- I'll give that a try and let you know how it works. Thanks!

    Dish Satellite finder app advice?

If it was only that easy! :) We're traveling in an RV and for those sites we're at with a clear view to the south-- it's a no brainer. Turn it on, scan and let it do its thing. But for sites like where we're at now it ain't that easy. We're surrounded by tall trees with a steep drop off to a...

    Dish Satellite finder app advice?

Looking for a satellite finder app for my Android devices that I can use to position our Winegard Pathway X2. As I understand it there's a western and eastern arc each consisting of 3 satellites? The few apps I've looked at so far seem overly complex-- at least for this beginner. Is there a...

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

"satellite id detection" ? Not sure what the advantage this offers? A quick search of the models you listed would seem to indicate that they are no longer in stock. I guess my question remains as to whether the models costing hundreds of dollars do any better job than the cheapies when it comes...

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

Thanks much for the input. I'll check out the apps you mentioned. As for signal meter-- searches come up with a whole slew of options ranging from less than twenty bucks for the cheapies to hundreds for the most expensive! Pretty mixed reviews for all as well. If you-- or anyone else reading...

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

Do you use an app or another device of some kind to aim the Dish? There's a bunch of different apps (Android here) and wondering which ones might work best.

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

Is Dish4MyRV a division of some kind of Dish or a separate entity? Seem to remember at one point when doing some research on the Dish site that they directed me to Dish4MyRV and I assumed they were a part of the same.

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

From everything I've learned so far, the Tailgater system is not something I would even consider. Although I can appreciate your perspective having dealt with many users, but I think a number of other factors need to be considered before saying which system is "the best". Also, what good is...

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

We expect to be traveling anywhere from 2-3 months. Pretty much decided that the tripod route is what will work best for us. I can also use it at a few other locations at other times of the year as well.

I did manage to find the name of a local installer who we used years ago. I will contact him tomorrow.

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

Thanks-- I did check there but mainly seems to be a lot of sales hype with listings for only portable dome type units or the very expensive Winegard ones.

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

Thanks for the input. Not sure what "Hybrid LNBF" or "EA Hybrid head" consist of? One would need different heads for different locations? Am I correct in assuming that with this type of setup I would have a completely portable satellite system where I could set it up anywhere-- RV, home...

Confusion re. Dish system for RV

Getting ready to make the dreaded call to Dish sales and if the person I speak to there is as ill-informed as the person I "spoke" to on their Chat system, not looking forward to it! :imconfused We currently do not own any satellite systems (unless you count the old, rusting C-Band dish still...
