And now the kicker... I found out that I can get NASCAR full race replays on line if I don't mind waiting a couple of days. I always record to skip the commercials anyway, so an extra day or two is no big deal. NASCAR and F1 were the ones I needed to get, and F1 replays have been on line for...

Sad to say, the 30V doesn't surprise me. Many of te LNB's require some hefty voltage. Well, it was at least worth asking and getting a no, vs trying it on a good unit and frying a few hundred dollars worth of equipment.

    Power supply conversion

I would expect everything inside the Hopper 3 to run on +12 or +5... but it has to power the LNB. That is my only concern. I've played with a lot of different devices over the years, so coming up with a power supply for +12 and +5 doesn't phase me. But I am a put different boards together type...

Copied from their web site: Watch TV Anywhere - Watch LIVE programming while traveling down the road. Or record while on the go to watch later. The RoadTrip T4 in-motion satellite antenna delivers DISH, DIRECTV, and Bell TV programming.

The fridge in the van will be an actual 12V compressor. They have been around for a while and seem to be fairly reliable. I have a small Peltier cooler that I would take in the truck I'm transporting, so short duty and running off their truck. I will have to look back into the Weingard in...

Hey guys, sorry for the long time between posts, but had some major vehicle issues to deal with. Something I neglected to include in the start of this, is the vehicle I'm planning will alternate between being driven for a few days, and then being pulled behind another vehicle being delivered...

    Power supply conversion

Arlo, I appreciate the information. Do you know what receiver that power supply came out of? For me, this is going to be a small van conversion, so my roof space for PV is limited as well as battery space. Back when I had a 722k go bad, I played with it before it went to the scrap bin, and I...

    Power supply conversion

Yes, I can always go inverter, and they are fairly efficient now. But there are a number of computer power supplies that run on 12VDC instead of 110VAC, so the +5 and -5 shouldn't be a problem. Bad part is I don't have a Hopper 3 right now to tear into. I had a couple of old 722k's around, but...

    Power supply conversion

Looking to go on the road, and would really like to run a receiver off 12V directly. Doesn't make much sense to have the in motion antenna and the TV running on 12V, and have to use an inverter just for the receiver. Unless I've missed something, every receiver they put out has a 110VAC cord...

    722k Internal drive to external

The only real downer was some of the TV shows we lost. We tend to let a few episodes of each build up and then binge watch them instead of hitting one each as the week goes along. Lost the first eight episodes of Blue Bloods and no way to get them back. It was the next one on the binge list.

    722k Internal drive to external

Man, you gotta love those acronyms. Did some more research, and it enables an output to the RCA / S-Video ports for an External Recording Device. ie. a VCR or something just like you said. Too bad Dish couldn't do the right thing and allow direct to external recording. If you enable it pops up...

    722k Internal drive to external

Not so fast. Menu - Preferences - Record Plus - ERD Setup. In the main window you have the option to set TV1 and TV2, then a side selection to turn on ERD Recording. 'If you have an external recording device hooked up to your receiver, you have the option of recording to this device.' It's...

    722k Internal drive to external

We don't have a lot, but the post from someone that runs several externals and sorts the content by subject has me thinking also. He did it like concerts on one, 'her' movies on another, real movies for him, etc. This was the first time I have backed up my timers to the remote. The first hurdle...

    722k Internal drive to external

I'd almost buy the embedded keys, but even as an external it didn't even want to format it. Just no drive recognized. And I put it into the known good external drive case just to make sure I didn't have incompatible hardware.

    722k Internal drive to external

No joy in Dish Land. Tried it in the external first. No drive present. Did a quick and dirty connection in the new unit, acted just like the bad one, constant reboots. Thanks for the help guys, but this one is toast.

    Newbie question

Yeah, I figured it was going to be a bit spendy to get it wife proofed. All though that is a bit of an oxymoron in itself. She has a hard enough tome keeping the remotes clear even though none of them look anything like the other besides the two Dish remotes. I've at least got her trained to...

    722k Internal drive to external

Already purchased a replacement unit. I've owned my own equipment for as long as possible. I off loaded most of my recordings prior to complete failure. Mrs. procrastinator had a fair amount of recordings she hadn't moved yet, so I have to at least make the attempt.

    Newbie question

And quite possibly a stupid question... I have a nightmare at home. Two 722k's, a 400 disk DVD carousel, and a Roku. I would LOVE to not have all the remotes and be able to watch various programs where ever, and she would like to be able to watch the same thing all over the house when I'm not...

    722k Internal drive to external

Have A 722K that died, hoping the drive is still okay. Purchased a new 722, and I have two options that I know of. 1. Take the old drive and temporarily put it in the new unit and off load everything to the external. then swap them back and off load from the external to the new internal. 2...
