DISH Hacked - Websites are BACK ONLINE!

Just logged in for the first time since the breach and pretty much everything looked good in my "account" section. I did notice that I had no rental certificates remaining, but the two I had prior to the breach would have expired on Mar. 9th and I had no way to utilize them without being able...

DISH Hacked - Websites are BACK ONLINE!

I have Auto-Pay and Paperless Billing set up and today I received a paper statement in the mail showing that my Auto Pay will be charged to my credit card as usual on 3/21. With all the other problems they're going through right now, I thought it was a decent gesture to send out the paper...

Upgrading to the Hopper 3 system - a few questions

I'm not sure I fully understand. So this would be due to a specific content provider/network/station actually transmitting in 4K? I guess I'm just not that well informed on the whole 4K technology.

Upgrading to the Hopper 3 system - a few questions

Hi folks. Apologies in advance for asking several questions in one post, but they all pertain to my decision to finally leave the dark ages and upgrade to DISH’s latest equipment. I currently lease a VIP 722 and VIP 622 and own a 211K. I’d like to upgrade to the Hopper 3 setup…here are my...

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

Well....Day 2 with the new (refurb) 722 receiver and all seems to be working OK. Signal strength is: 129 - 52, 119 - 64 & 110 - 78...all on transponder 17. Also, the new receiver seems to be quite a bit more "snappy" and responsive. Who knows...maybe things were simply "wearing out"...

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

LOL! I was wondering about the inbred switch. Wasn't sure if it was onboard or some new technology I didn't know about!:p Seriously though, thank you all for the helpful information. I'll update this thread after I install the new receiver tomorrow.

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

Thanks for the info guys. Yep....I do indeed have that molded unit with the 3 "eyes". I was under the impression that each eye was a separate LNB. Well, I guess I'll wait and see what the new receiver does for me. If it doesn't cure the problem, I'll call out a tech. But my original...

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

I'll definitely give that a try dare2be. On another note, referring to what HipKat mentioned above....I'll admit I don't know exactly what a "diplexer" is or where it might be found in my system. I have a Dish "separator" behind my receiver, and those connections are obviously dry and they are...

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

Wow....dare2be....if what you say is true, that could VERY WELL be my problem! The last two times this has happened were the last two Sunday evenings when I happened to be recording a program from the PBS affiliate in Milwaukee. This particular channel is in fact a low signal strength channel...

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

Thanks HipKat. I'll have to check everything that I can before calling out the tech again. One other quick question....in DISH's instructions for connecting a replacement receiver, they make no mention of removing the smart card from the old receiver and inserting it into the replacement unit...

    Signal strength for 110, 119 & 129...can you prioritize?

A few weeks ago, I started having signal strength issues with my main receiver...a VIP722. It seemed that whenever I'd exit watching a DVR recording and go directly to "Live TV", I'd get a complete signal loss error message. I'd reboot, and sometimes this would remedy the problem for a while...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

I just called Dish with the intent of canceling. I have other options locally and frankly, the latest mess with HBO was my "final straw". The rep told me that over my 13 year subscriber history, I had built up some sort of "loyalty credits" that would now allow me to have either $35 per month...

    Customer service and false information?

Thanks for all the input, guys. I think cancelling the appointment for the 622 to 722 "upgrade" is the right way to go for me. At some point (assuming I ever find time to off-load all my DVR content), I'll probably look into the whole Hopper setup. I have enough trouble watching recorded...

    Customer service and false information?

I thought I'd post something here regarding a call I made to DISH a few days ago to see what some of the members thought. I called to try to work out a better deal on my programming and equipment costs. During the discussion, I was transferred to the retention department where I spoke at length...

Saving Dish 722 Recordings to EHD prior to Hopper Upgrade

Thanks guys! I guess I'll be moving my home theater PC upstairs to the room with the 722 then. I just bought a Hauppauge PVR and am planning on getting all my content off the 722 and its EHD and onto a dedicated drive in the HTPC. Unfortunately, I have the HTPC downstairs in the rec room...

Saving Dish 722 Recordings to EHD prior to Hopper Upgrade

Just a quick question that relates to this topic. If I have an external drive on each of my current DISH DVR receivers (a 722, a 622 and a 211K), can I move these external hard drives from one receiver to the next and plug them in without losing the content on them and/or reformatting them...

Cancellation issues, what ifs, and keeping my recorded content

Yeah...I just found a few articles that said the same thing. I have SSDs in other systems and primarily use them to put the OS and a few programs on them only. Never used them specifically for storage. And yep...the $ per GB ratio sucks, although it's getting better. I guess for this...

Cancellation issues, what ifs, and keeping my recorded content

Just one more question regarding the saving of DISH DVR/EHD content using the Hauppauge 1512 PVR... Since I'm going to be adding a second hard drive to my home theater PC expressly for use to write this content to, does anyone know if there is an advantage (quality or otherwise) in using a solid...

Cancellation issues, what ifs, and keeping my recorded content

Thanks for the input guys. I have little if any premium channel content on my DVR and EHD, but it's stuff I'd like to keep for future viewing. I never even knew such devices existed (like the Hauppauge), but it'll be nice to save this stuff to a computer hard drive and burn it to DVD when I...

Cancellation issues, what ifs, and keeping my recorded content

Thanks KazooGuy. I did see those minimum requirements on the Hauppauge website; I was just wondering if anyone had "real world" experience with their product and what type of PC setup they had used. One thing seems certain...nobody can use the HDMI output to record with these things because of...

Cancellation issues, what ifs, and keeping my recorded content

I'm not sure if I'll stick with DISH or not. I've been with them for 9+ years and love the programming and equipment. The contract disputes get annoying, but that's part of the game. Anyway...I'd like to get all of my content onto regular hard drives (PC/Windows) over the next few months...

    FOX News Channel/DISH dispute

As opposed to the generation that simply bends over and takes what they "Dish" out? My conscience will let me sleep just fine tonight.

    FOX News Channel/DISH dispute

$30.00 off for the next 6 months (got connected to the retention department). CSR started with $5, then went to $10, followed by $20 and then finally $30.00. As much as I'd rather have the channels, $180.00 will help pay for the cost of an alternative during this most recent pissing match.

    DISH VOD "Occupy Unmasked" question

LOL! I suspect you're entirely correct Scott. And I did notice the addition of The Blaze, so that pretty much shoots my poorly founded theory. Maybe the movie will in fact show up next week. Thanks guys.
