    Virgin Island at 99W

Tried Firmware 07012011 and it still wouldn't scan 'em in so I guess I gotta learn to edit channels. Going to craw back into the woodwork now. Oh, this was for an OpenBox S9.

    Virgin Island at 99W

Thanks for all the help. I read elsewhere that Using Firmware HDS2-10-07-11 , and blind scans work fine on the S9 for NBC & Fox I didn't see an upgrade with that date in the files section.

    Virgin Island at 99W

Can someone point me to a post that has ALL the info for channel editing an OpenBox S9? Do I download an editor and and use a thumb drive to transfer? I deleted all my 99W channels and re-scanned and now there's a lot of channels missing besides NBC & FOX.

It looks like NSS 7 at 22.0°W would be a good place to start.

    Receiver Loop Out

Maybe this was brought up before. I have found the LO (Local Oscillator) of my analog receiver connected to the Loop Out will interfere with the digital receiver (and visa-versa).

Need advice on removing a BUD from a high roof

Need a picture or more info. Some perf. dishes can be disassembled while still on the poll. The entire dish is allowed to spin while the panels are unbolted at the bottom.

Pencil test as it applies to Mesh C-Band

I'd have to look up the author . In his design, he said the holes need to be less than 1/10th wavelength in diameter. That works out to 0.1 inch (12 GHz).

    Need help setting up

Hello. Maybe you haven't set up the receiver. First go to the antenna setup menu and define a setup for G25. The important thing is to define if it is a Standard or Universal LNB. You haven't mentioned the type in your post, so try both. Also be sure the LNB power is "on" in the menu...

A little C-Band Talk with a local TV Station

Interesting. I've heard that most stations use a service connected by fiber to insert their commercial breaks. Really cuts down on operating cost. Not sure how it can be done over phone lines.

KCSG On Galaxy 25 C Band

I found something interesting with my new 180CM Fortec Prime focus C-Band Antenna. I aimed between G25 and G4 and get nearly everything on both birds. I get KCSG , BYU, the Nets on G4 and even Casper. The Casper channel quality is about 45 - 50% but never breaks up. All others are much...

    Help with FTA circuit

Maybe easier to connect the C-Band receiver to the Loop-Output of the Digital receiver and connect the C and KU dishes to the switch. The C-band LNBF would would need to be a newer model with 15-16V Polarity switching. I may have missed something. Somebody help me.:)

Adventures in dish hunting and what we find

The smaller dishes are 30 inch C-banders. They are for narrow band data pay services. Some were used for Stock Market tickers. The one I have was used for GOES Weather satellite data. It was distributed this way before the internet. I removed the receive box underneath an adapted the...

What is the smallest dish I should use?

G4 is now Called G16 @99 deg. WesT. I suppose your looking for the networks on the Virgin Is. Mux and possibily NBC in Casper. I have gotten good reception of both of these with a 180cm (6 foot) prime feed dish. The basic dish comes with a crude mounting base and is mounted pretty close to...

    Found A Free Muzak Dish

Couldn't leave "well enough alone". Now gets 97, 87, 93 and DirectTV@101. I swear this dish has more gain than my 1.2M.

    Found A Free Muzak Dish

I am using one of those dishes and it works the best (for it's size) of any dish I've owned.:) My LNB is single polarity, 10.7 GHz LO, and receives all the normal KU stuff.

Radio Scanner - Hooking to FTA Dish?

Yes! I did the same thing with a ssb receiver. I recall I could only hear one side of the telephone conversation. That was 20 years ago. I doubt if there's much to listen to these days.

    Fortec C-band dishes

It looks like a 10 foot Dish made by Orbit. IF so, it's best to disassemble while still on the pole. You pull out the plastic ribs which hold in the mesh pannels. Theres a bolt at the back of the dish that will loosen an allow you to spin the dish while your taking it appart. The thing...

    fortec star lifetime ultra

I flipped pins 2 &3 via the el cheapo method. In the middle of the cable i slit the outer insulation. Puled the wires out and found pin 2 &3 wires with a continuity check (piercing the individual wires with a sharp test probe). In my cable it was the green and black wires.

    fortec star lifetime ultra

I recently bought a used Fortec Ultra for $30 that had some of that unmentionable firmware. It took the lastest factory firmware via the RS232 port. I had to flip the wires for pins 2 and 3 to make it a straight through cable. For some reason I had to do it twice and the 2nd time worked fine...

    DIY Picture in Picture.

Be careful before you invest. There is a world of difference(expence) in a multisource monitor that expects common sync video sources than one that will handle unlocked video sources, such as multiple satellite receivers.

Getting CCTV on G3C with 18' Dish???

The Level Angle Meter measures 16 degrees (In Calif.). This was for CCTV. Of cource the polarity was off by 90 degrees because I Strapped the Universal LNBF on a gutted Dishnet LNB (and 18 inch dish). I could also get a few of the feeds on IA5 lin NDTV.
