    Upgrade to HR20-700

My first try with retention, they said I'd have to pay $399 to upgrade my HD receiver to the HR20-700. Obviously I need to try this again.

HD Games on NFL Network Spotted!

Yep, I was watching Bucs-Jets on 95 justnow, and I don't have NFL sunday ticket either. Very nice.

why should i stay with d* for hd instead of switching to comcast??

Whenever I see comcast cable at a friends house, even with HD, the user interface stinks. The guide is so much better on DirecTV. Maybe a minor thing overall, and not directly related to HD, but makes for a better viewing experience. I'm just going to be patient and hope we get better HD in...

    Which RSN's offer HD games?

I thought because of the way the RSNs were transported (using all cable, and no sat transmission), they don't have to give the HD signal to DirecTV. This sucks, because I'd like to be able to watch the Giants on FSN Bay Area.

New Technology May Force TV Ad Viewing

Maybe your wife - mine skips the commercials with our DirecTivojust as quickly as I do. I don't think she EVER watches a commercial on recorded shows.

    HR20-250 Questions

That, along with the absence of an MPEG4 HD DVR, is the main reason I'm not upgrading to MPEG4 now.

TNT-HD now live on Directv !!!!

I turned TNDHD on a bit this weekend, and even during the HD broadcasts (like nascar on Saturday), the picture would break up fairly often, and sound would be lost for a couple seconds. This happened a LOT - it was acting like an off air channel with a poor antennal. Video and audio quality...

Questions for those who have already upgraded to Mpeg 4

Rad, are you using any diplexers near the receiver to split OTA and satellite signals, or are you using a separate cable from the antenna to the receiver for OTA signals? I'm asking because I currently use diplexers, and it would be difficult for me to run additional cables if I could no...

Questions for those who have already upgraded to Mpeg 4

And another question for those of you who have upgraded - are you able to view any other HD channels via OTA antenna, on your H20 receiver?

HD Upgrade in Detroit (5 LNB)

I ordered an upgrade for next week, and was told I'd have to give them my old receiver as part of the upgrade. But, due to the fact that it's not possible to carry OTA signal and sat signals on the same cable, and use a diplexer to split out at the box, I'm thinking I'll cancel the upgrade...

Say GOODBYE to diplexers with the new MPEG-4 Five Lnb AT-9 DirecTV dish

Thanks for the suggestion, Tom. I'm still thinking there's really no benefit out of upgrading at this time, if I lose OTA capability on either my HD Tivo, or on the H20. RIght now, I can watch ANY HD OTA channels on either of my HD units (non-Tivo and Tivo), after I upgrade, even if I do as...

Say GOODBYE to diplexers with the new MPEG-4 Five Lnb AT-9 DirecTV dish

Say GOODBYE to diplexers with the new MPEG-4 Five Lnb AT-9 DirecTV dish

No more diplexers? So, that means, if I have a 10-250 HD Tivo in one room now, and upgrade to the new dish and H20 in another room, I'd need THREE coax lines to my HD Tivo, 2 for satellite, and one OTA, instead of having a diplexer at the HD Tivo? Yes, this really sucks, as I still want...

    HDTV Receiver for $99

How to get rebate on H20? I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and called today to upgrade to the 5LNB dish and H20 receiver. The cost given to me was $99 installed. How does the $200 rebate I've heard about here work? Is that rebate eligible for what I've ordered?

    $299 HD-DVR w/ $100 rebate

Slow rebate I sent in my rebate form on 9/23. I called to check on it on 11/7, the person I talked to said to call back two weeks later. I called today, there is still no record of my rebate. The rep I talked to wanted to send me another rebate form, but I said that was ridiculous, and could...

    MY R15 review!

Watching what is being recorded I have pretty much the same question as ADent. Can you watch something while it's being recorded? Can you switch between two shows that are being recorded, and watch either one?

    HD Audio problem on 10-250

I just had my HD DVR installed last night. I was basically replacing an SD Tivo, so it was trivial to do. I am connecting this to my Samsung LCD TV via HDMI. I'm having one odd problem - the audio on the off-air and HD channels (channels in the 70's) doesn't work. All other channels are...

    DVR and ratings limits

Yes, but in order to watch it, you'll have to enter your override password. Works great if you want to record something on a TV the kids use, but you don't want them to watch it.

Is now the time to switch to D* and the HD Tivo?

I would just sign up for D* with an SD Tivo, and when you have an HD television, THEN get the HD DVR - either Tivo, or whatever D* is offereing then.

    HMC Wiring Question

Home Depot sells a "combo" cable that contains 2 RG6, 2 Cat 5 and 1 fiber line in one bundle, so you only have to pull one cable everywhere. I ran one of these cables to every room in my house when I remodeled, so it's very easy to connect a computer or tv or phone in any location in the house now.

Do you use the 30 second skip?

My wife and I just love being able to hit FF 2 or 3 times when commercials come on, then hitting play to automatically jump back to the end of commercials. I think that's better than hitting 30 second skip over and over for each commercial, but since I've never used it, I can't say for sure...
