Why would this thread get shut down? We can debate the ethics of a Canadian looking to pay for DirecTV services - just as an American resident who wishes to subscribe to Canadian-based services - until we're blue in the face. It doesn't do anyone any good by the way. I'd suggest you try to help...

So what you're saying is, anyone with an account based in either New York or Los Angeles in addition to getting "locals" will have the exact same content also shown in the 380's? It's the same signal/content as far as I know, I just wasn't sure if those channels would appear for customers based...

Hmm... Does this mean that anyone who receives NY/LA "locals" in the lower range also gets the same feeds in the 380's? If that's the case, it would make sense for anyone who couldn't get a spot feed to "live" in either of those major cities (which happen to have network feeds).

I doubt it and stand by my initial claim. For the record, I'm not talking about anyone involved with "hacking" (using, profiting, or otherwise) DirecTV's signals, like what took place several years ago. I'm talking about someone who is paying a monthly bill and resides in Canada with DirecTV...

Name a Canadian citizen who paid for DirecTV, was charged, and prosecuted (fined and/or jailed). It has never happened. And it never will.

Absolutely, I've been doing it for a year now. There are even "local" dial-in numbers across Canada for the TiVo related information (favourite shows, etc.) where are the guide and updates come via satellite. I've never unplugged it, so I've only read about these "nag" screens. :p

By the way, any DirecTiVo will work within Canada via a standard phone line, but you're right, the PPVs will need something extra, as the built-in toll-free numbers will not work... Good luck!
