What do I need for NESNHD/NHL only?

Hi folks. My local cable company refuses to carry the NHL Center Ice HD channel for some bizarre reason (still charge us the full rate though). I noticed that the 61.5 satellite carries regional HD sports channels and the NHL Network HD channel, which really would be the only ones I need (I...

    Good bye D*

    >>>Local Cable... 8 HD channels... no locals... NO DVR... price double of D*... 512k is the fastest internet... in other words about 8 years behind.<<< My cable company is giving me an HD DVR (with less features than the Tivo-DirecTV HDDVR, but still, no initial equipment outlay) at the same...

    Good bye D*

Well, since we're keeping track here, I'm doing something I never thought I'd do -- am ditching D* on the 18th when my CATV is installed. 20 HD channels is better than what D* will be offering for some time. Yet another customer lost to cable HD offerings.

And the IBM AIX platforms... Supposedly, the new Xbox360 also is going to be using RISC processors.

Was anything 'good' said in the conference call today?

Well, I guess the CSR I spoke with didn't know what he was talking about. He just kept going on about these "150 national channels that are coming up very soon." This was what he kept telling me to get me to stick with D*. He sounded otherwise knowledgeable, but certainly didn't let on that this...

Was anything 'good' said in the conference call today?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I bit the bullet and called Cablevision for an install. I've had nothing but trouble with their cable service in the past (their internet service is A+), but I just can't justify having just spent $500 on an HR10-250 when they're only going to continue to...

Was anything 'good' said in the conference call today?

I just spoke to a customer service rep in the retention department. Much as I hate Cablevision, this news makes me want to get off D* until they start offering a better HD selection. I was particularly offended by the "not much demand for HD right now." I told him that I was a little miffed that...

Will tree branches and leaves block the signal?

I was in the same situation a few years ago, where I mounted the dish in concrete in the bottom of a big flower pot. The dish ended up being pointed directly at a medium sized tree (maybe about 6-8 inches in diameter) and I still got a decent signal off of 101 (round dish). The guy is most...

Current on D* (I have almost had it)

The "can't afford HDTV" argument is quickly fading away. :) For less than $800, you can get a nice 27" ViewSonic HD monitor. Another $150 or so gets you a used HD receiver. And the prices will only continue to tumble.

Current on D* (I have almost had it)

Hey, I hear ya. I'm finding myself watching things JUST because they're in HDTV because it's so tough to watch compressed SD now. I'm just glad there's at least one other progressive network on the air to balance out the field, you know?

Current on D* (I have almost had it)

That's essentially what it is. It's for teens and young adults or so I've heard. Also very cool how they offer $$ for local features sent in by kids.

Need Help....Currently with D* Switching to IO Cablevision.

Cablevision. Last I tried them was a year ago, tried the exact same promotion. They MAY have corrected these things since then, I don't know. I'm just relaying my experience. The Good: On demand video rocks (when it works), Cablevision's internet service is nothing short of excellent. After...

Logitech Cordless Precision Xbox Game Controller

I thought I wouldn't get used to the smaller controller, but it's totally comfortable. I can play for hours and not get tired of it, but most of my gaming is racing games and RPGs. Don't know how it would be for fighting games. The D-pad feels a little "floaty," but it's not a big deal...

Logitech Cordless Precision Xbox Game Controller

I've had this controller hooked up to my XBox for what seems like ages now, and it's worked flawlessly... Also, I haven't changed the batteries yet, despite what must be 40-50 hours of gaming (I have had the vibration mode off). I would highly recommend this controller, no problem at all...

    DirecTV Plans for 119

Anyone know if DirecTV plans to put more stuff on 119 or to take stuff off of it with the new satellites going up? It seems like 119 has very little DirecTV on it. My signal during the day on 119 is very low. It goes up to watchable only after like 9-10pm. Weird.

    Buying advice

I'm trying to get my feet wet in HDTV and just bought a new Viewsonic HDTV on sale and have had DirecTV forever. I'm trying to minimize my investment at the moment (well, as much as possible). A couple months ago I bought my second Tivo, so I don't really want to go the DirecTV recorder in the...
