Finally - the SLIMLINE ODU is coming out

This is debatable. I've had a hell of a time aligning the AT-9/AU-9 dish with the mast out of plumb. The more out of plumb you are, the less accurate your dither can be because the drop-off on each peak of the wave-form can never be even. It's worth mentioning that if every KA-band transponder...

Picture problem, 1 box only.. need your help

If it worked for 5 yrs as you said, and just recently started acting up- then I'd be hard pressed to say it is a cable modem issue. The cable modem is way more sensitive then that receiver is so if that is working fine then the problem is somewhere else that is related only to the satellite and...

    don't get caught moving

LOL, looking at your post history- [<----seriously, take a look] I find this absolutely hilarious and somewhat tragic. Kind of expected, too. Instead of being frustrated, embarassed or chagrined at your own brain blunder, you lash out at content providers who are simply trying to comply...

    Reset DSX-5500 ?

This is how you perform a factory reset on the DSX5500c: 1. Hold down the 'menu', 'up' & 'down' buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. 2. After the box finishes 'refreshing' (may take 10+ seconds or so) you will see a screen titled "Auto Diagnostic" with a bunch of other selections. 3...

Is the Sony 300 HD receiver compatible with the new 5 lnb dish?

My HD300 works just fine with KA/KU dish. It just sees it as Triple-Sat. A saw-buck says the installer hooked up the wrong line to the last port of the ground block. Happens all the time when a receiver isn't hooked up at the time of the install and the tech is not able "positively" tone it out.

Finally - the SLIMLINE ODU is coming out

The gain is improved. I haven't been able to read the gain data regarding the reflector itself. The data I base that fact on is comparing the signals of an H20-100 between an AT-9 and Slimline aligned using the same meter, same mount, same cabling, and the same AZ/EL back assembly. The...

    Denver Apt intall

Good question tech007. Break open a piece of flat cable and you'll know the answer to that. Let's just say that the center conductor an even thinner gauge than RG-59. ;)

    At-9 Dish Self Install

I can't speak for H20-600s (I find very few still working in customer's homes and they're not installed much anymore)- as for H20-100s it is normal to have the signal 10-15 points lower than a normal receiver. There is some internal attenuation being done to the KU-band portion of the satellite...

Finally - the SLIMLINE ODU is coming out

If you're a tech (and according to all your posts you appear to be), then the "redesign" clearly isn't meant for you, or for me even. The redesign is meant to lower shipment costs. The standardized parts (common back assy and LNB) lower supply chain costs etc. Interesting statement. You must...

Finally - the SLIMLINE ODU is coming out

I'm not claiming any conspiracy or deliberate deception. I'm simply stating that this was one of the benefits of the slimline dish vs. the AT-9 that was touted to me and others involved in the business. If you read the DirecTV Investor Report from 22 February, 2006- the three benefits of the...

Finally - the SLIMLINE ODU is coming out

AT-9 weights 37 lbs- dish + mast Slimline weighs about 33 lbs- dish + mast. Enclosed are 2 sample Slimline dishes I received last week. Compare the sizes between the AT-9 and Slimline and you'll come to the same conlcusion I did- the slimline is not as small (compared to the AT-9) as we...

    Signal Problems

Everyone already said what I would've said. When I looked at your signals but before I read all the other posts, the first thing I said to myself is, "this guy looks like he's pointing through a tree."

New AT9 Install Today - Pics!

Needs both monopoles. The problem is, where do you put them? Most installers are trained to avoid putting dishes into vinyl siding and monopoles would fit that profile. As long as there aren't any strong winds hitting the dish directly on the reflector it may be okay. Then again, that's a Cal...

Only getting odd transponders on 101W

I was prepared to offer suggestions up until I saw how you were trying to accomplish this. Here's a tip- purchase equipment that is actually made for what you are trying to do- namely the proper dish and LNBs.

Sad day for me... No more DTV...

If you have exposed joists underneath the eave, there is a product out there can help- it is essentially a non-penetrating undereave mount specifically designed for the AT-9. PM me and I can point you to the manufacturer if you really really want to go back to DirecTV- you can order the mount...

Fellow techs out there a question

'Overcurrent' on the AccutracII/SignalocII series of meters usually means the LNB is drawing more current from the meter then it can provide. This will usually start happening around 250-350 ma. It can sometimes indicate a faulty LNB, but you've already ruled that out. When this has happened...

    72.5 Local Channels

A 4x4 DOES work for 72.5. There is no such thing as a 6x4 multiswitch. Where are you guys getting your information from? With a Triple Sat and 72.5, you need a 6x8. With a 4x4, you can only get signal from 101 and 72.5.

    Are all Installers.........

A tree 10-15 feet away from your balcony and 5 feet higher than said balcony would put the tip of it anywhere from 30 deg. to 22.5 deg. respectively. In the Pacific NW, a treetop at 30 deg. would be cutting it too close. In Vegas, you'll be just fine. :)

Multiswitch or Diplexer problem - any ideas?

I had to read this one a few times before I could figure this one out. I really mean it, this was a headscratcher! Your diplexer isn't multisat compatible. It isn't passing the 22 kHz tone needed for the box to select a different satellite other than 101. No 22 kHz tone, no 110 or 119. :(...

    Are all Installers.........

I loved doing apartment installs when I was an installer. They're relatively easy to do, they reward creativity and you usually have to do very little crawling or wall fishing. However, and this is the unfortunate part of satellite-delivered content, they're somewhat binary in nature. If they...

Is this a multiswitch problem? (wrong channels)

Can't tell if your joking or not IndyTech but thanks for the encouragement anyways. I will keep my eyes peeled for a trouble call just like this [wrong transponder populated] with a 122 and a 125 resolution code and think of you when I see it. Seriously. :)

    How late will installer work?

I was a DTV technician for 2.5 years before I changed job titles. I've lost count of how many times I was at a customers' house until 9 or 10. A half dozen times I've been there later. Usually this was due to encountering problems and trying to get them fixed. For me- and I think my mindset...

Is this a multiswitch problem? (wrong channels)

Guys, all the information is right there in front of us. You have the wrong multiswitch. The SAM 3042 (a 3x4 m/s) is not compatible with a multi-sat dish. I bet your system looks something like this: 4 lines coming down from the dish, 2 lines going to the 3x4, 2 lines going 'somewhere else'...
