Need help with Dish reconfigure email

What is so urgent? Hi, I just got the infamous URGENT ACTION REQUIRED letter in the regular mail. Some of you were notified many months ago. It is May 2nd 2011. I guess it's not that urgent. I live at 40 north and 105.5 west, zip 80466. I get all my programming including HD on 110, 119...

Converting DPP to a single LNB

Azimuth + elevation for 129 That is a good sugestion on aiming a 30" dish at 129. I can do that. I still can't find the Azimuth and elevation for 129. Satellite finder web site doesn't have 129w for echostar. There is a 129w CIEL-2, whatever that is. Is it OK to use the numbers for 129w...

Converting DPP to a single LNB

OK, Which satellite is the one I need to align to? A dish tech told me it was 129, but I can't find the azimuth and elevation for 129. Dish must think that everyone has a 1000 dish that gets all 3 satellites. Another ??, Since I have just the 722 receiver, I could use a dpp single LNB...

Converting DPP to a single LNB

Hi, I have an unusual dish setup, because of the snow fade I get here in the Colorado Mountains. I have 2- 30" winegard dishes for 110 1nd 119. I have a DPP33 switch. I get really heavy snow several times a year, and the 30" dishes help a lot. I also have a 722k receiver. I want to put up...

    612 locks up or freezes

I have checked the ground, and all the techs have checked and redone the grounds. That would have been a good guess though.

    612 locks up or freezes

If you are referring to the 612, I had 3 and everyone locked up in fast forward. The 722k doesn't have the over the air (OTA) connectors or an S-video output. If You don't need these, I would demand a 722k. It will not cost more, except it will extend the 2 year commitment. For me that was...

    612 locks up or freezes

I had a Dish contractor here, and he installed the 722k receiver. I have no more lock up problems. The tech was very competent. Now I have another ?. The 722k does not have the OTA connectors, and it does not have an S-video output. I really would like to have the OTA connectors. I need the...

    612 locks up or freezes

I did unplug it from my surge protector, no change. There is nothing close enough to cause an EM effect. Dish doesn't have much info on a 622, what is the difference between a 722 and a 622. I know it's 100, but seriously how much smaller is the drive in a 622? Other than drive size, are they...

    612 locks up or freezes

I know, it sounds impossible, but it's true. I have it in a semi closed shelf, so I put in 2 fans that keep the area at room temp. It's definitely not hot, just barely warm. I did pull it out as far as I could, it fails so rarely that I will leaving it out for a longer test. I had a DVR 510 in...

    612 locks up or freezes

new 612 locks up Yesterday a Dish tech replaced my 612 with a different one, and he checked my installation. Guess what, the new 612 locks up just like the previous 2. I have done some more checking while it's frozen, and none of the remote buttons work except the TV power. I cant even power...

    612 locks up or freezes

That's interesting. Sounds like the same problem just showing itself differently. I have a Dish tech coming over today to "fix" my problem. I will probably have to keep getting new 612's until I get one that works. I wish they made another dual input single output reveiver with a big hard...

    612 locks up or freezes

By a soft reboot, do you mean holding the power button down? That does a reset of most of the box. Pulling the AC power will do a major reset. I have tried both at different times. It still locks up. Now Dish wants to send a tech out. I guess they think I installed it wrong. If it works, it...

    612 locks up or freezes

I had a new 612vip installed by Dish in the middle of June. It started locking up (freezing) when I would fast forward a recorded or a paused program. It would freeze for 15-45 seconds and then continue what it was doing. It would do it 1-3 times a night. I received a replacement 612, 7 days...

    Vip 612 Woes

This is way off the original topic of this thread. The 510 would erase recordings whether it was 10% or 80% full. Believe me Dish tried to fix it. Apparently this is a known problem with the 510. There are several threads on this forum about 510's erasing recordings. Dish would not have...

    Vip 612 Woes

I had a DVR 510 that was OK for what we use TV for. The 510 has a nasty habit of deleting recordings when ever it wants to. Not PPV movies that get deleted after 24 hours, I mean anything I recorded. It always deletes the oldest recordings. Sometimes once a month sometimes every day. Anyway...

    Vip 612 Woes

I just had a new vip 612 installed by Dish to replace an old 510 that they couldn't fix. I don't get HD and I have had it freeze audio and video when I fast forward a recording. The freeze will last for 1-2 minuites then it will recover and go on. I have done the power on reset several times...

Legacy dish with Dish Pro Plus receiver

Thanks, So, a 4-4 or a 6-4 switch would work to connect my legacy dishes to the 612 and 4900 receivers. I have fairly short cable runs, and I just replaced all the old cable Dish put in 10 years ago when they installed the original receiver. I tried to get Dish to send me one, and they wanted...

Legacy dish with Dish Pro Plus receiver

OK, which switch? Some switches need external power. I'm not sure how Dish does that. I was told a 4-4 switch needs external power. I need a switch with 4 inputs from the 2 dual LNB's, and at least 3 outputs, 2 to the 612 and 1 to the 4900. Thanks,

Legacy dish with Dish Pro Plus receiver

Hi, This is probably answered here in another thread, but I couldn't find it. Dish is replacing my old defective DVR510 with a vip612 receiver. I also have a legacy 4900 receiver. I don't want the HD satellite, and I would like to keep the 2- 30" dishes I have with legacy dual LNB's and a...

    If I get a signal strength of 60 with a dish 300.....

I have 2- 30" Winegard dishes that I use to get 110 + 119. I replaced a Dish 500 pro dish that received both 110+119. I had big problems with snow fade. I live in the Colorado Mountains and we get huge amounts of snow. On a clear day, the signal strenght on my 510DVR went from the low 30's to...

    High gain dish

Chena, What size dishes are they? Where do you live? Those dishes look to be almost vertical. I am at 40 degrees north latitude, and mine aren't nearly that vertical. I hope that I will have a big dish like those next year.

Wow, I bet a 1 meter dish would solve all of my fade problems. That's over 39". There is no Winegard dealer anywhere here in Colorado that I can find. At least close to Boulder. I did find that solidsignal.com has very good prices and reasonable shipping cost. I haven't seen the 1 meter...

    High gain dish

Hi, I guess we could discuss snow fade for a long time. You say that there is NO such thing as snow fade. I will ask you the same question, do you have facts to back up your statement? I agree that ice and snow do transmit radio and microwaves easier than liquid water, but ice and snow will...

    High gain dish

You are correct. I will have to investigate. What I was trying to get across is that anything that gets between the transmitter and the receiver will cause "fade". It could be rain, snow, ice particles, dust, or we all know foliage like leaves can do it.
