    Pbs Hd?

Tony, The HD stand alone package includes locals, so should I assume the guide will include that PBS HD OTA channel even though it is not in the package?

    Pbs Hd?

Pbs If I have only the HD stand alone package, and an OTA antenna, can I have the local PBS HD channel included in the guide menu? This way I can program recordings without setting up a timed recording manually.

    622 vs 722

Thanks all. I called Dish but they repeated that since I'm not signing any time committement, ( I will be moving in 1.5 years), there is no choice but the 622. Hopefully the installer will not have any on the truck and I'll get a 722.

    622 vs 722

Thanks! I don't need the extra hard drive space nor the other advantages. I wanted to know if the 622 has more problems than the 722. If not, the 622 will be fine.

    622 vs 722

I'm upgrading from a 942. They said it would be a 622 instead of a 722 receiver, but I've heard on this forum that the installers don't install 622's anymore. I told the Dish rep but she insisted I was wrong. I tried to get her to change, but since I was getting a great deal she said no. What's up?

    Premium Channel Question

I'm changing out my 942 for a 622. In the last 2 1/2 years I've had the HBO & Showtime premiums, which I only used in HD. At the time, the other premium channels were not available. When the 622 is installed next week I can have Cinemax, Starz or Showtime. Which one has the best movies...

Cc I receive my locals via an antenna feed into my 942, not via the satellite. CC works fine, no matter which channel, as long as the show is listed as having CC.

CC Problem Since the L2.89 software fixed my 942's CC, see if your 622 has received the same CC fix.

My 942's CC has been a problem since I bought it 14 months ago. All the missed or jumbled words were making it difficult for my deaf girlfriend to enjoy HDTV. Finally though, the new software version L2.89 seems to have fixed this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

Owned or Leased? I assume this deal is for a leased 622, is this correct?

Captioning "It looks like the VIP 622 is preventing the CC from appearing on the TV, is this correct?" I have the 942 receiver but I believe it is the same. The Receiver does not allow the HDTV's, (TV1 output), closed cationing feature to be turned on, (it is grayed out in the TV's menu)...

    HD Channel qulity on TV2?

Pillarboxed Change your mode, (Dual/Single-it is set with the button in front of the receiver, not via the remote). That will solve your problem and give you a normal SD picture just like any other SDTV. Otherwise you have to always change the receiver manually from 16:9 screen to 4:3 screen...

    Closed Captioning [cc]

Cc Yes, the problem occurs only on TV1, the HD TV. TV2, the SDTV, is fine because it allows the TV's CC to be used. As HD becomes the norm, and older people start to use it as their primary TV, the CC problem will affect many more millions of people then today. I would hope that this...

    Closed Captioning [cc]

Closed Captioning Are other HD users having a problem with their closed captioning on HD channels? Mine, and I assume all users , drops words/phrases intermittently, although if replayed via the hard drive, will show some of those words/phrases but may drop others. Dish says it is a problem...

    Closed Caption Problem

I have Dish Network with a Dish 942 HD Receiver. My deaf girlfriend needs CC to view programs but, unfortunately I'm having problems with this. The CC when using Dish programs cuts out part of the captioning when I'm using my Zenith HDTV to view them, usually a paragraph here and there...

Cc I have the 942. CC drops words often on HDTV, but if I replay it on the DVR, it shows other words dropped, so it is recording all the CC. It works fine on my SDTV connected to the 942. Go figure.

Cc This still does not answer the question of why CC is intermittent on my HDTV but not on my SDTV when both are via my 942 outputs.

Cc I was told by Dish that CC on the HDTV must be via the 942, and that with the 942 the TV's CC is not usable. So, whether viewing HD or SD on my HDTV, I must use the receivers CC. There is no difference if viewing SD or HD on the HDTV. Even over the air broadcasts that are sent via the 942...

I have an owned 942 and a deaf girlfriend. The CC on the 942 misses some of the dialogue when watched on my HD TV, but not when watched on my SD TV. Both are connected to the 942, HD on TV1 and SD on TV2. Do any others have this problem with CC? Does the 622 have this problem?

    Free Upgrade to a 622?

The Call Dish called to offer to take my owned 942, which I purchased only 6 months ago, and send me a leased 622 for $0. It would cost $199 but I would get $199 back after sending in my 942. I would have to subscribe to their new program package, which would cost $17 more with leasing...

    SD Quality on HD Package?

Picture Most people find the SD shows to look worse on a TV that is larger in size. So it isn't so much showing SD on an HDTV as it is the increased size. For the best SD signal, use component connections, not S-Video. Then adjust your picture settings for the best picture, generally turning...
