Any New Dish Deals Now That it's May 1?

Hmm, thanks. That seems no better than what they already offered. I'll stick with comcast too until I hear what D* is going to do.

Any New Dish Deals Now That it's May 1?

Are the dish deals they are offering today the same as what we've already heard? $250 for the HD-DVR and $100 for the 61.5 dish (although I think I'd get that free since I have a local channel there)? I suppose I'll wait and see if the D* rumors about a June announcement come true.

Here's the Real EchoStar deal for Voomers...

From looking at the Dish web site it seems like this is only a good deal for the first three months -- after that it looks like regular pricing. Top 180 with locals = $53 HD Pack = $10 Voom add on (assumed) = $5 That comes out to $68 = no special rate after the first 3 months.

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

I wonderhow recently you had to have Voom. I dropped last October but would love to get in a voom deal that gave me a free 942 HD DVR.

All 10 VOOM Channels on Echostar will be on 61.5!

What is a superdish (I've never had dish before)?

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Has anyone confirmed that the DVR is totally free? Is it the 942? Is this just for current Voom subscribers (I've been gone a while).

It's Official - VOOM ON DISH NETWORK!

Free DVR upgrade? Does that mean you don't have to pay the $250? Or you do?

Directv $200 Rebate for Voom Customers

although i guess since it's a rebate you will have to provide something. but voom should be able to e-mail (or fax) you something.

Directv $200 Rebate for Voom Customers

If not you could try calling a Voom CSR and see if they will e-mail you something that verifies your account. Or try calling D* directly and explain -- they probably won't care.

Voomer moved to Comcast – initial thoughts

I was looking forward to the on-demand feature but when i finally got it on my system about a month ago i was very disappointed. There is no HD at all and the menu system is clunky and very slow. I've watched a couple of things on it but can't see myself using it much. I'd rather they add more...

    I did it... ordered Comcast

You should sign up for the deal anyway. I highly doubt the installer will ask for your receiver -- and if he does just tell him it is a lease and show your bill. When I switched back in October the CSR said they wanted the receiver but the installer didn't say anything at all and didn't verify...

    I did it... ordered Comcast

When I switched last October they didn't ask for any proof at all. I'm sure a Voom bill or credit card statement would be fine -- but it's quite likely that they won't even mention it when they come for the install.

Voom should give all subscribers a gift!

They should play SHAFT on all their movie channels. Get shafted by Voom.

Anything is possible but in all fairness...

Do you think they'll release the DVR on April 29! Sean, you guys ran a great forum here. I dumped Voom back in spetember or october of last year (due to lack of DVR) but have been lurking ever since just to keep up with it all. Thanks!

VOOM Might be gone as early late this week

You might have to wait a day or two. I've only just started the rumor so I'm expecting the ball to start rolling anytime now. It may take a couple of days to get into print though.

VOOM Might be gone as early late this week

So wait. What channel is Jane Fonda going to be on? And can you believe all those reports that Ted Turner is buying Voom.

VOOM Might be gone as early late this week

But the original rumor never said anything about "and could shut the Voom service down as early as late this week" -- and it seems like satbiznews isn't in the habit of making stuff up.

MORE NEWS: Another Board CVC Meeting set for 1/31/05? Nothing Reported yet.

Oh god, please don't let this thread be closed. Maybe davis will come on and give us all details of the meeting. Maybe another freelancer was listening through the vents in the voom office. Who's VOOMing Whom?

Ah, yes. I would consider those majors. Thanks. I take my post back, although, I don't think the WSJ ever said it. Edit -- also, these all say "will" or "have decided to" which is a bit different than saying "has shutdown".

    Who's VOOMing Whom?

Just for the record I don't think the WSJ, the new york times, or any other reputable publication ever said that voom was "shutdown". There were some rogue reports after the suspension of the spinoff from not so major publications like this one...

    From The Street 1/28/05

It was bigger than marketing. They had a real problem with operations at one point. In fact, I recall them saying that they had to kill their marketing for a while because they couldn't keep up with the new installs. Also a 20-30% churn rate cannot be blamed on marketing.
